SEM-Hatch is a joint venture between Hatch Ltd. and Sikumiut Environmental Management Ltd. providing engineering, construction and project management services in the province of Newfoundland & Labrador. SEM-Hatch is performing Engineering and Project Management Services for the Voisey's Bay Mine Expansion project. This mine expansion project is expected to produce about 40,000 tonnes of nickel per year and extend the life of the Voisey's Bay operation until at least 2032.

We are interested in receiving resumes for Quantity Surveyor. This is a site project term position on a 2 week in 2 week out rotation, with 12 hour long shifts; working remotely at home at first. The site is accessed via air from designated pick-up points in Newfoundland and Labrador.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Personal safety on site and in the office.
  • Understand the scope of work, deliverables, schedule of execution, price/forecast structure, formats and reports etc.
  • Quantification, costing and price analysis.
  • Measure and value the work done on site.
  • Measurement of Key Performance Indicators (KPI).
  • Manage and report on contractor work in progress and payments.
  • Report and advise upon the adequacy of progress and quality of building works.
  • Calculation of cost prediction and analysis.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the sources of information and data.
  • Attendance at Project Progress Meetings.
  • Write and issue comprehensive reports to clients.
  • Liaise with the client and other construction professionals, such as site managers, project managers and site engineers;
  • Perform MTOs from IFC dwgs for a CWP/package.
  • Create material reporting forms and formats.
  • Validation of contractor progress estimates utilizing ROC.
  • Witness and monitor installed quantities.
  • Assist with the establishment (ROC) rules of credit by commodity, CWP etc.
  • Validate/monitor productivities and benchmark estimates.
  • Other related duties as required.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Minimum 5+ years' experience in a quantity surveyor role, ideally on medium / large multi-discipline project.
  • Strong MS Office skills and experience with tools and estimating systems is a must.
  • P6 knowledge is required.
  • Knowledge of EPC/LSTK estimating techniques is preferred.
  • Commercial/ contractual knowledge would be an asset.
  • Experience working on a remote site is preferred.
