NextStar Energy (NSE) is an innovative joint venture company between LG and Stellantis. It will be Canada's first large-scale lithium-ion battery production plant when it begins production at the Twin Oaks site in Windsor, Ontario. The manufacturing facility will have an annual targeted production capacity in excess of 49 gigawatt hours and will create an estimated 2,500 new jobs in Windsor and the surrounding areas.

The

Quality Technician

is responsible for ensuring products meet all safety and quality standards with the ability to work in a laboratory setting. The candidate must possess critical-thinking skills with high integrity standards to make sound quality decisions. Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills are essential for this role. This position requires a professional demeanor, sense of urgency, result-focused attitude and the ability to prioritize multiple activities. The candidate must show initiative, good judgement and be willing to take on additional tasks and responsibilities as needed to achieve organizational goals and deliverables.


The Quality Technician will serve as a cross-functional member of the Quality team and may be assigned to support operations within either the Supplier Quality, Module Quality, Cell Quality or Electrode Quality departments, depending on production needs and organizational priorities.

Responsibilities:



Ownership of specified quality equipment inside the Cell, Electrode or associated Quality Assurance Labs. Operate equipment such as ICP, Mass Spectrometer, Tensile Testing, CMM, CT Ability to work within 1% humidity environments for a prolonged period of time. Perform inspections using hazardous chemicals; following proper handling and storage of the chemicals according to safety standards. Responsible to work on assigned shift schedule Inspect electrode or cell samples from the production line using laboratory methods to verify conformance to specifications; accepting or rejecting materials accordingly. Document and communicate any identified defects on parts. + Containment of defective parts and secure in designated areas.
+ Report investigation/ test/ containment results in a clear, concise, and timely manner to the appropriate Supervisor.
Perform and document daily, weekly, and monthly equipment calibrations and preventative maintenance; verify accurate data collection and equipment functionality. Analyze inspection data and ensure records are maintained accurately within designated software systems. Maintain inventory of reagents and lab supplies; coordinate replenishment with supervisors as needed. Utilize a variety of required PPE to ensure safe completion of tasks: Technicians require at least some and up to all of the following: (Lab coat, safety glasses, anti-stat jumpsuit, full/half mask respirators). Work independently while maintaining effective communication with team members and cross-functional departments. Complete required documentation, audits, and reporting accurately and on schedule. Maintain cleanliness at worksite in accordance with Strict cleaning and contamination-prevention Standards Participate in required training and demonstrate reliable, on-site attendance. Adhere to general, and position-specific, dress code requirements. Ensure tasks are performed in compliance with IATF 16949, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards.

Ability to read and interpret prints, graphs, manuals, and measurement results Ability to inspect and approve incoming material following detailed procedures and specifications. Demonstrated ability to work with attention to detail and prioritizing accuracy. Willing to participate in training, especially technical and/or problem-solving related. Basic math and analytical skills are required. Visual acuity and ability to discern various colors and small details Ability to wear a full respirator as well as all PPE listed above. Grace under pressure, and the ability to react with appropriate levels of urgency to situations and events that require quick response or turnaround. Dexterity, physical strength, and physical stamina.

Qualifications & Skills:



Minimum College Diploma is required; preference is given to those with diploma in a Technical Program. Preferred 2 years minimum of working experience in a relevant environment (Manufacturing, laboratory, pharmaceutical). Experience with measuring devices such as microscopes, gauges, calipers, and other measuring instruments preferred. Experience working in a wet lab with chemical laboratory testing equipment. Working understanding of basic statistical concepts and methods. Flexible to work varying shifts to support production schedules including day and night shift on a rotating schedule.
