8th Avenue Food & Provisions is a growing organization made up of businesses that produce and sell quality products including pasta, peanut butter, granola, and fruit and nut trail mixes to retail, foodservice and ingredient customers. The company was formed in October 2018 through a combination of Post Holdings' private brands businesses and is owned by Post Holdings and funds affiliated with Thomas H. Lee Partners, L.P. ("THL"), a private equity firm.

8th Avenue Food & Provisions is a leading manufacturer of private brand and branded food products. We supply organic and conventional products in four major categories Nut Butters, Pasta, Granola and Fruit & Nuts.
We are a small plant with a big heart with a warm, friendly and positive work environment. We make the best peanut butter of the highest quality by roasting and grinding peanuts combined with other raw ingredients that flow to a 1 fully automated line consisting of a filler, capper, labeler and pallet wrapper, and then shipped out all over the world! Location 30 Citizen Court Drive, Markham
Shift: Day shift M-F 6am-2pm for 2-3 months then moving to Permanent Night shift M-F 10pm-6am - plus weekend overtime work
Pay rate is $61,624 $75,000 per year (depending on experience) plust 16 days Paid Time Off, 6% annual bonus, benefits, Defined Contribution Pension Plan (DCPP)
Position Summary:
The Quality Assurance Supervisor is responsible for supervising quality assurance and sanitation activities to ensure raw ingredients and finished goods are compliant with customer specifications and regulatory requirements. They also provide direction to the sanitation utility team to ensure that facility is free from food safety hazards and is complaint with SQF regulations.
Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervises, trains and schedules work of lab staff in the performance of quality analysis, reinforcing quality standards of raw ingredients and finished goods and manages the general sanitation utility team and provides daily direction for projects needed to be completed
  • Monitors daily analyses, tests, product holds and other lab activities
  • Manages the sampling process, documentation, and release of finished goods while ensuring regulatory compliance and customer specifications are met
  • Analyzes and reports on point of origination of quality discrepancies. Works with department managers to determine cause and corrective action
  • Manages communication to Managers on customer concerns and complaints and participates in communicating responses to customers as directed
  • Coordinates plant sanitation program activities including pest, insect and rodent control programs, internal and third-party audits, and regulatory inspections
  • Coordinates GMP, quality and HACCP training for staff
  • Participates in the identification of improvements and changes to quality assurance, sanitation and food safety programs
  • Participates in all audits and preparation for audits
  • Purchases supplies for quality assurance, sanitation and food safety
  • Responsible for employee annual performance reviews
  • Responsible for reviewing and approving employee time cards
  • Works with the Department Manager to ensure production coverage (reviewing and posting employee work schedules and vacation time off requests).
  • Responsible for onboarding of new department employees
  • All positions within Golden Boy Foods Ltd are mandated to adhere to Good Manufacturing (GMP) and uphold food safety standards
  • Some travel to the US required
  • Other duties, as assigned
Education and Experience Required:
  • Must have a Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in food related field. (Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, Biochemistry, etc.) and or 2 years of quality assurance experience in a food manufacturing environment
  • Must have experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)
Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:
  • 3+ year work experience in food plant sanitation or quality assurance
  • Previous experience designing and deploying training programs
  • Previous people leadership experience
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strategic planning skills
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
Physical Requirements: Qualified applicants must be able to perform the following physical job requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation:
  • Must be able to sit for 4+ hours per shift
  • Must be able to walk for 4+ hours per shift
  • Must be able to lift up-to 50 lbs.
