The Quality Manager plays a pivotal role within the organization. In this role you will have the opportunity to work with cross-functional departments and global peers to maintain and continuously improve the quality system consistent with established standards, customer requirements, and production goals throughout our operations.





This position is based out of Scarborough, Ontario, with 30% travel required within Canada split between Armstrong branches, our suppliers, and our customers.





In addition to annual initiatives, the key responsibilities are as follows:




Key Responsibilities:


Quality Program and Design Management


• Inspire and instill a fresh perspective of the importance of quality into the Armstrong culture.


• Consult with the various business units to design and implement a new standard for product quality across all global operations.


• Deploy the Armstrong Operating System in the operations.


• Work with cross-functional teams (i.e. Engineering, Product Management, Operations, Customer Service, and Technical Support) to improve the overall customer experience.


• Ensure all workflows are being followed and have meaningful metrics.


• Develop programs, policies, and workflows to support quality initiatives.


• Investigate customer quality issues and work with the appropriate parties within the organization to develop and communicate corrective action plans.


• Analyze field defect and warranty claims and monitor and execute corrective action procedures to improve customer experience.


• Identify opportunities for improvement and align best practices within a quality culture




Quality Team Management


• Lead a team of quality engineers and inspectors.


• Participate in the recruitment and development of a high-performing team.


• Annual employee development and skills development
• Enforce all health and safety, environmental, and quality regulations, policies, and procedures


• Promote and promulgate a healthy cross functional collaborative work environment with other departments




Coaching, Training, and KPI Performance Indicators


• Act as the subject-matter expert (SME) for Quality


• Develop onboarding and training programs for quality subjects.


• Develop statistical data to define, measure and improve quality.


• Identify, count, and communicate KPI metrics to track and report the status and performance improvement of quality management system processes




Audit & Compliance


• Implement the document control procedure.


• Ensure compliance with national and international standards and legislation.


• Manage the internal quality audit system.


• Lead all regulatory audits, including ISO and customer, and ensure site compliance


• Act as key driver for all supplier quality related issues, carry out goods inward inspections, monitor and report incoming goods quality performance. Issue and track supplier corrective actions in a timely manner with a focus on root-cause analysis and corrective & preventative action (CAPA)




What We're Looking For



To thrive in this role, you should bring:




• University Degree in Engineering preferred.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in Quality Management in Industrial Manufacturing
• Ability to think and execute strategically, keeping in mind big-picture initiatives
• Experience working with organizations with a strong operating system
• Knowledge of statistical processes such as statistical process control or the Six Sigma quality management methodology.
• American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) / American Society of Quality Control (ASQC) certification or equivalent.
• Demonstrated expertise in quality program development and implementation.
• Experience with International Organization for Standardization (ISO) in a production environment.
• Ability to communicate effectively, clearly, and concisely to all levels.
• Creative problem-solving skills and conflict management within cross-functional departments
• The ability to break down complex problems in a simplified way, conduct root cause analysis and provide clear, well-thought-out recommendations for containment, corrective and preventive actions.
• Strong, team-oriented leadership skills with presence and a bias for action, and hands on skills in manufacturing and business processes.
• Self-directed with the ability to work autonomously and collaboratively and focus on results.
• Strong sense of urgency in a time-sensitive working environment
• Great team-oriented attitude, while capable of working independently
• Strong verbal and written communication in English
• Adhering to all health and safety policies, procedures, and regulations
