Quality Manager

Job Description

Our client, a manufacturing operation within a half hour of the GTA, is currently looking for a Quality Control Manager to oversee quality control of their operations. The Quality Control Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day quality operations including the implementation and monitoring of quality systems to facilitate compliance with company standards.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing and managing a team of quality control personnel
  • Ensure all products being run confirm to the product specifications as outlined in (ERP) system.
  • Strongly adhering to ISO 9001 standards and FSSC 22000 standards
  • Responsible for ensuring machine operators are operating according to standards and requirements, including safety.
  • Work closely with all departments to improve quality, increase efficiencies, and eliminate out of specification or damaged product.
  • Recommend adjustments to the assembly or production process.
  • Perform production line QA/QC functions as required. Conduct relevant visual and dimensional inspections on raw materials and finished product.
  • Report inspection and test data such as weights, temperatures, grades, moisture content, and quantities inspected.
  • Develop work process and train QC Technicians on proper procedures relevant to the project.
  • Communicate with QC Technicians on issues that arise and need to be addressed
  • Maintaining proper communication with QC technicians, Lead Hands, and Plant Manager.
  • Utilize free time by preparing audit sheets, checking held products, emptying reference samples, reading micro plates, checking inventory supplies, and overseeing repacks.
  • Participate or assist in internal audits on an as needed basis.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures, including: health and safety policies/procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and ensuring the required personal protective equipment (PPE) is worn by staff while in the warehouse or production areas.
Qualifications
  • BSc. or college diploma in Quality or Mechanical Engineering Would be considered an asset
  • 7 or more years' experience in manufacturing specializing in Quality Assurance/ Quality Control activities.
  • Demonstrated initiative, leadership, and team building skills
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 and FSSC 22000 standards
  • Strong understanding of Manufacturing best practices, lean manufacturing, and continuous improvement processes
  • Previous experience in either food processing and packaging, or pharmaceutical manufacturing Industries would be considered an asset.
