Summary:
This position reports to the Plant Manager and is responsible for QC inspections from incoming of raw materials through to final inspection and testing of outgoing orders. Documents and reports on any non-conforming materials/products and assists in investigating and resolving such issues.
Duties & Responsibilities:
1) The incumbent is responsible for Quality Control (90% of time)

  • Conducts incoming inspection, in-process and final inspection of products and materials
  • Conducts inspection/audits customer order shipments, reviews and signs Certificates of Conformance
  • Conducts first-off inspection / part approvals of production set-ups
  • Documents product issues and communicates clearly to various personnel
  • Assists in creating / review of inspection instructions, records, and quality related documentation
  • Collecting and reporting inspection and test data including non-conformances
  • The Quality Inspector is also responsible for the control of non-conforming product
2) Corrective Action Support (10% of time)
  • Support the Manufacturing Quality Specialist with corrective action support including root cause analysis and return material inspection and documentation
  • Assists Customer Support by inspecting and reporting incoming and outgoing RMA's
Interacting with many departments including but not limited to Production, Operations NPI, Procurement, Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering, Sales, R&D, Quality. May support inspection at Med Eng suppliers
Qualifications:
  • Technical certificate/diploma in textile, mechanical, electronic or equivalent discipline, or combination of Med Eng product knowledge and experience.
  • WHIMIS, ESD and health and safety training
  • ASQ certification as Certified Mechanical Inspector (CMI) and/or Certified Quality Technician (CQT) preferred.
2) Experience
  • 3 - 5 years' experience in a quality inspection function in an ISO 9001 manufacturing environment
  • Familiarity of Soft Goods manufacturing, workmanship standards, and inspection
  • Experience in the use of inspection, measuring and test tools, calibration practices and equipment used for verifications (calipers, micrometers, etc.).
  • Understanding of statistical sampling plans
3) Other Skills and Abilities

  • Interpret technical documents such as drawings and schematic diagrams.
  • Functional computer skills including spreadsheets, ERP and databases
