Job Duties
Establish, support and monitor the quality requirements within the manufacturing process in accordance with customer requirements.
Study and assess the quality of industrial manufacturing facilities, machinery and resources.
Lead and coordinate strategies and continuous improvement projects to improve performance and maintenance standards and the quality of the manufacturing process.
Participate in various aspects of configuration management of the program quality plan, such as internal/external document reviews, customer requirement compliance checks and establishing and maintaining production inspection processes.
Lead and support quality management system audits.
Generate inspection test plans and complete in-process and final inspections.
Support the Material Review Board by providing non-conformance evaluation and disposition support, rework/repair evaluations, and facilitating root cause analysis implementation of Corrective Actions.
Develop and approve production documents and standard operating procedures.
Lead and support business development opportunities and quality related customer communication, including identifying and resolving quality actions, managing Notice of Escapes and participating in customer audits.
Establish programs to enhance industrial health and safety within the manufacturing process.
Lead and support External Qualification activities.
Oversee delegated inspectors and support the development and implementation of training plans.
Complete calibrations of tooling and equipment as required.
May be assigned other duties as appropriate.
Employment Requirements
Education
Bachelor's degree in industrial, mechanical or aerospace engineering or equivalent.
Licensing, or eligibility for licensing, by a Canadian provincial or territorial engineering licensing authority is considered an asset but is not required.
American Society of Quality (ASQ) Quality Engineering Certification or equivalent is considered an asset but is not required.
Experience
Minimum 5 years' experience in quality engineering in a manufacturing environment.
Aerostructures and Composite Manufacturing processes experience is considered an asset but is not required.
Language
English language ability.
Skills
Knowledge of Industry Quality Management Systems, such as AS9100, ISO 9001, and National Aerospace and Defense Contractors Accreditation Program (NADCAP).
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Attention to detail, especially with technical writing.
Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team.
Efficient interpersonal skills.
Experience using Computer-Aided Design (CAD)/Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM) software, such as CATIA.
Root Cause and Corrective Action skills are considered an asset but are not required.
Knowledge of manufacturing and quality practices (LEAN, 6-sigma, JIT, 5S, etc.) is considered an asset but is not required.
Experience using Microsoft suite of products.
