Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled
Quality Engineering Specialist
to support compliance with aerospace standards and customer requirements through hands-on quality engineering activities. Reporting to the Director of Quality and Engineering, this role plays a key part in ensuring robust manufacturing and inspection processes, while driving continuous improvement, structured problem-solving, and technical documentation.
The Quality Engineering Specialist will collaborate with cross-functional teams, contribute to audits and qualifications, and serve as a technical resource for quality-related initiatives across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Reviewing Manufacturing Methods prior to release.
Conducting First Article Inspections (FAI) per AS9102.
Leading cross-functional PFMEA exercises.
Developing Control Plans and Measurement Systems Analyses (MSA).
Conducting process capability studies and validation activities.
Perform root cause analysis and support corrective/preventive actions (RCCA) using structured methodologies (8D, Fishbone, FMEA).
Collaborate with Manufacturing, Methods, and Supply Chain teams to ensure quality is designed into products and processes.
Assist in developing and maintaining quality procedures, control plans, and inspection documentation.
Support internal and external audits, including customer and regulatory requirements.
Participate in special process qualifications, first part qualifications, and validation activities.
Interface with suppliers and customers on technical quality issues as needed.
Maintain accurate records and contribute to data analysis for quality metrics and reporting.
Qualifications/Experience:
Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Engineering, Quality, or a related technical field.
Minimum 3 years of aerospace manufacturing quality experience.
Working knowledge of AS9100, AS9102, AS9145, AS9136, and aerospace customer requirements.
Proficiency with quality tools and methodologies: SPC, FMEA, Control Plans, 8D, PPAP, MSA.
Experience in build-to-print manufacturing and complex assemblies.
Strong communication, analytical, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Certifications such as CQE, Six Sigma, or Lean are considered an asset.
Equivalent combinations of education and extensive aerospace quality experience may be considered.
