As a world leader in the design and manufacturing industry, Active Exhaust is seeking an eager and enthusiastic experienced Quality Engineer to join our successful Toronto team immediately. We are looking for a talent with solid professional skills in the manufacturing industry who can provide a superb customer experience.

The main responsibilities of this role are to plan, organize, control, and manage the activities in the Manufacturing, Materials, and Maintenance departments and to set and manage quality, safety, and production performance targets. Also, coordinate all operations in different departments and facilitate the smooth operation of the Plant by ensuring that all production demands are met on time with high-quality products.

This position reports to the Director of Operations.

What you will be doing:

  • Involvement in the new project launch process
  • Detailed and close communication with customers to understand customer specifications and requirements on new and existing projects, as well as quality concerns.
  • Participate in product and process design reviews to identify and prevent a potential failure.
  • Act as Quality Lead for process validation and First Off approval.
  • Prepare and submit PPAP to AIAG and/or customer requirements
  • Participate in Run@Rate for new Project Launches.
  • Review quality performance reported by customers, and take action to make improvements.
  • Communicate internal/customer quality issues with supporting departments (such as maintenance, tool shop, engineering, prototype/fixture shop, welding, and paint).
  • Perform containment, rework control, and issue quality alerts for internal/external quality issues.
  • Lead problem investigation and problem-solving to address quality concerns.
  • Collaborate with customers on warranty reviews and settlements. Collect warranty information for reliability evaluation.
  • Perform daily walk-through plant for process monitoring and non-conformance control
  • Support management of the Fixture/Gauge Calibration System ensuring new Check Fixtures and other Measurement Gauges are calibrated/measured and entered into the Active Exhaust Gauge Management System.
  • Implement 5S, continuous improvement, and lean manufacturing initiatives.
  • Embrace and participate in the six sigma methodology
  • All other duties as assigned.
What you bring along:
  • Mechanical/Metallurgical/Chemical Engineering degree from an accredited University
  • Minimum 5 years of working experience as a Quality Engineer
  • Experience managing customer base from a quality perspective, proficiency in problem-solving and customer response
  • Proficiency in reading blueprints and competency with standard metrology tools
  • Problem-solving ability in a production environment, team leadership utilizing problem-solving and statistical techniques
  • Familiar with GD&T and APQP tools and techniques (PFMEA, Control Plan, SPC, Capability study, DOE)
  • Experienced in New product development Processes and PPAP submission
  • Team player, with strong leadership skills and comfortable
  • Ability to work in a fast-moving manufacturing environment
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks independently
