Specific Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Learn and understand Exchanger Industries' Quality Management System to ensure all processes and procedures are followed with regards to Quality Inspection
Inspect and test all pressure vessels and structural parts for visible weld defects, correct material and grade, correct dimensions, conformance with construction drawings, and work order specifications while applying knowledge of welding principles and theory
Perform and interpret/evaluate tests and test results in accordance with applicable codes, standards, specifications, or procedures
Identify and understand all drawing, code, and customer requirements for received parts for accuracy and compliance
MTR Review
Check that material meets the physical and chemical requirements of the applicable edition of ASME Code, Section II, drawing, ITP, and Client material requirements
Place EIL material checked stamp on each MTR, then sign, date, and (where applicable) indicate minimum thickness and, for plate material, enter the plate into the list of acceptable plate materials
Respond to inquiries into material heat numbers
Inspection and Testing Program
Ensure records of material used is available in job file
Scan approved MTR's into applicable job files
Perform material receiving inspections to ensure that the supplied parts match the current drawing for material grade, dimensions, quantities, etc
Ensure that all material is traceable back to a certified MTR by approved marking methods (stamping)
Release approved materials to the shop for use
Clear off materials in database to indicate materials are ready for use
Specific Accountabilities:
Material Control
When stock pipe material is used, ensure heat numbers are transferred before cutting by painting or stamping so that both pieces remain identified and that the marking on the piece to be used is not lost in fabrication
When stock plate is used, verify materials meet the physical and chemical requirements of the applicable Code of Construction
Plate used for pressure retaining parts shall be traceable to the original code required marking consisting of the heat number and plate identifier. Once accepted, apply the EIL material check stamp
Responsible to ensure material is identified and correct at all stages of fabrication
Non-conforming material is identified and immediately removed from use
Work with and assist additional QC Inspectors to ensure all material documentation is accurate prior to forwarding to Document Control
Inspect and ensure all materials used in the fabrication of pressure vessels and pressure piping are properly identified, marked and are consistent with the bill of materials listed on the drawing
Recommend when analytical non-destructive examination (NDE) methods such as magnetic particle or liquid penetrant or ultra sound inspection methods are required to supplement visual inspection
