Job Summary:
Reporting to the Quality Control Manager, the Quality Control Inspector II plays an important role in ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and precise inspection of fabricated pressure equipment. They will document nonconformances and collaborate with cross-departmental teams to maintain quality standards and drive continuous improvement. The successful candidate will utilize their knowledge of inspection procedures and technical drawing interpretation to uphold the highest standards of quality throughout the fabrication process. By fulfilling this role, the Quality Control Inspector II contributes to the overall efficiency, safety, and success of our production operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Performing QC Inspection functions in consultation with other departments and project schedules.
Verification of material/part traceability and reviewing supplier documents (i.e. MTR's, COC's, Inspection reports, etc.) against approved supplier lists, internal specifications, and compliance with ASME Sec. II and other acceptance criteria as required.
Verification of received sensor/gauge traceability and calibration records.
Receiving spot/random machined part dimensional and surface profile inspection.
Pre-welding fit-up inspection of vessels, piping and structural weldments.
Verification of adherence to ASME Weld Procedure Specifications.
Verification of ASME Welder Performance Qualifications and maintenance of welder continuity.
Weld and product visual inspection per ASME Sec. VIII Div.1, ASME B31.3, B31.5, and internal specifications.
Post-weld dimensional inspections.
Post-weld cleaning/passivation inspections.
Writing inspection reports.
Maintenance and acquisition of calibrated measurement equipment.
Planning and verifying sign-off of inspection/verification/operation points on Code Travel sheets (ITPs), Workplans, Factory Acceptance Tests and ERP driven quality checks.
Communicating product quality issues and potential improvements to Quality and Production Management.
Liaison with TSBC Authorized Inspectors and Supervisors.
Preparing ASME Data Reports and compiling vessel & piping record sets.
Assisting with Annual licensing/certification audits.
Initiation, communicating, investigation and documentation of internal & supplier Non-Conformities.
Initiation, communication, following up, and documenting Corrective Actions.
Qualifications and Skills:
3-5 years practical experience as Fabricator, Machinist, Welder etc., or Welding, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering Technologist with a minimum two (2) year's practical experience within a similar environment.
A valid CWB Level 2 (or higher) Welding Inspector certification. ASME B31.3 and Section VIII/IX endorsements would be an asset.
Previous experience performing dimensional quality inspections would be an asset.
Familiarity with stainless steel fabrication and welding distortion control practices.
Familiarity with GTAW, GMAW, FCAW, MCAW, SAW and automated welding processes would be an asset.
Experience planning, preparing and certifying ASME Weld Procedures and Welder Performance Qualifications would be an asset.
Experience using Codeware Shopfloor or other Code based database software would be an asset.
A valid driver's license may be required to provide a Driver's Abstract.
Proficient with Microsoft Office programs.
Flexibility to adapt to a rapidly evolving and growing environment where responsibilities and position scope may change.
Capable of prioritizing/scheduling/completing tasks in line with departmental and performance goals.
Excellent English language skills in both reading and writing.
Must have Canadian citizenship or a work visa for Canada.
