for our Toronto site to be responsible for leading the first line of investigation and documentation for internal and external quality issues. This role works closely with cross-functional teams to monitor processes, identify quality concerns, and support continuous improvement initiatives to maintain compliance and consistency across production.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Customer Sample and Library Management:
Ensure quality samples are filed, organized, and available and coordinate the retrieval and shipment of samples upon request .
Production and Material Quality Support
Investigate production-related quality issues involving raw materials or finished goods.
Determine root causes of issues--whether internal, vendor-specific, or material-related (e.g., paper, film, cartons, glue) --and work with internal/external resources to resolve.
Perform daily inspections and process monitoring.
Complaint and Non-Conformance Management
Investigate customer complaints, coordinate corrective actions, and follow up on resolution.
Analyze recurring issues with production teams and suggest preventive measures.
Track material shortages, update logs, and extract data using various systems.
Reporting and Data Analysis:
Collect, analyze, and log quality data to support decision-making and continuous improvement.
Prepare weekly/monthly reports and KPIs on issues, costs, and errors by department.
Use advanced funtions in Excel and Power BI to analyze trends.
Quality System Development and Compliance:
Maintain a presence on the production floor and ensure compliance via internal audits and random checks.
Develop and implement testing procedures for new materials (e.g., new paper).
Assist in developing and maintaining quality procedures (SOPs), and QMS documentation.
Manage compliance and records for industry-specific regulatory programs (e.g., FSC, Canopy).
Assist the Continuous Improvement Leader in conducting quality meetings, training, audits, etc.
Task and Meeting Management:
Enter and track assigned quality-related tasks in the system.
Organize and maintain accessible records of completed, dormant, or past-due tasks.
Attend daily production and quality meetings and prepare meeting materials
REQUIRED SKILLS and QUALIFICATIONS:
2+ years of experience in a similar role within the manufacturing industry; experience in the print industry a strong asset.
Degree or diploma in Graphic Communications Management or a related field an asset
Proficient in MS Office (particularly Excel) and manufacturing databases or related systems
Exposure to continuous improvement initiatives or workshops is considered an asset.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
Solid understanding of manufacturing processes, 5S principles and LEAN manufacturing
Organized, with good time-management skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks and work independently.
Detail-oriented and analytical team player with problem-solving abilities and a proactive mindset.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
This fully onsite role involves both office work and interaction with departments on the production floor.
Exposure to typical print manufacturing conditions, including noise and dust, may occur when working in the plant.
