We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Quality Assurance Technician to join our team. A QA Tech is responsible for monitoring compliance of GMP, food safety polices and customer specific requirements. Incumbent should exhibit understanding of HACCP standards for monitoring and verification purposes. Position requires ability to mentor and train plant floor employees on various customer specific requirements and MLI requirements.

Responsibilities:
Monitor workforce and production areas for violations of GMPs, HACCP regulations, SSOPs. Correct violations personally or in conjunction with the QA Supervisor and production staff.
Continuously assess the results of inspection findings and react in a timely manner to communicate potential problems to QA Supervisor and Operations Team.
Verify certificate of analysis and arrange testing for incoming raw material and finished goods.
The position will require early am starts for pre-operational inspections and plant trials/audits. and may require occasional Saturday overtime.
This position requires 50 % on the plant floor, doing checks and problem solving. The 50% is spent reviewing documentation, conducting investigations, contacting suppliers with some Quality related administrative work.
Most production areas are maintained at an ambient temperature with exception to the freezer which is maintained at -18C.
Position may require investigating ingredient issues or sampling in freezer (-18C) occasionally.
Verify food safety records, shipping and receiving records, ingredient and production records for product recall and traceability.
Conduct equipment calibration such as scales, thermometers, pH meter etc. and manage calibration schedule. Participate in evaluation of finished product and ingredients.
Responsible for taking environmental samples (swabs, air, water).Responsible for conducting Brittle Plastic Audit and participating in monthly facility audits.
Responsible for conducting pre-op line inspections post sanitation clean. Ability to analyze and trend multiple sets of data e.g.
Micro Matrix for further improvement of food safety related practices. Assist with delivering training for annual refreshers for employees and new employees.
Assist with investigation of customer complaints. Assist with managing ingredient specifications. Provide support for third party audits. Projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
Diploma in Food Science related discipline.
Working knowledge of food safety programs such as HACCP and SQF and aware of GMP compliance in a food manufacturing environment.
Knowledge of CFIA requirements for federally registered food manufacturing facilities. Ability to understand and interpret customers' requirements.
