The Bread and Butter of the Position:



Reporting directly to Portofino Bakery's Quality Assurance Manager, the full-time

Quality Assurance Technician

will be responsible forensuring that all requirements of GMP, HACCP, Pre-requisites Programs and SQF certification, and other audit programs are followed at all times. The Quality Assurance Technician will support the Food Safety Program by performing floor checks, record reviews, inspection checks, training, coaching and verification checks at the required intervals in accordance with program requirements. The Quality Assurance Technician is also responsible for compiling and documenting data to maintain quality, quantity and ensure products meet Portofino Bakery Standards before they are distributed to our customers. Ensuring consistent quality and reducing waste is essential to Portofino Bakery. The person in this position will ensure that when people enjoy Portofino Bakery products, they have a consistent and quality experience.

Our

Quality Assurance Technician's Responsibilities and Duties

are to:

Ensure that food safety and quality assurance programs are properly implemented and maintained by following regulatory guidelines; auditing, inspections, product quality control and data entry. Follow all company Occupational Health and Safety workplace standards at all times, and leads by example. Monitor and report compliance to the HACCP Program pre-requisites. Review and monitor production records, pest reports, sanitation records and provide reports to QA manager on problem resolutions and or recommended changes. Track and trend all GMP issues, and initiate CAPA, Holds and CAPA investigations. Ensure that all records, data and documentation is handled, prepared and stored efficiently and in a timely manner. Deliver GMP and HACCP Food Safety Program training, and coaching of production employees Investigate and resolve quality deviations, customer complaint and CAPAs; trend, report and communicate findings. Assist in traceability and mock recall activities. Perform food safety and quality critical control point checks on process as outlined in the HACCP and Quality Program requirements Evaluate raw material and on hold products, suggests disposition, and inform appropriate management personnel as required. Assist in performing Food Safety Program lab testing, sample collections, environmental monitoring program testing, calibrations, premise inspections and audit readiness activities. Responsible for reviewing and trending of all internal findings associated with Foreign Material Control, Sanitation Program, Pest Program, R & D data, Master Sanitation Schedule and Food Safety Meeting Minutes. Assist in data entry for all monitoring and verification activities as required Provide support to operations with the objective of meeting food safety and quality requirements, while maintaining production efficiency. Translate and incorporate good manufacturing practices (GMPs) into operational practice. Present a professional and respectful attitude when dealing with both internal and external contacts, and will work towards facilitation a team atmosphere within the company Additional duties as assigned by Quality Assurance Manager and/or QA Supervisor. Assist in the maintenance of the Food Safety Programs, on-site audits for all Distribution Centers and all activities associated with the program. Other duties as assigned

Shifts and availability:



8-hour shifts. Monday-Friday This is a full-time permanent position. Occasional overtime, weekends and/or shifts

The Ingredients You Bring to the Table:



Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, or related field, job experience will be considered 1-3 years of work experience int food industry Experience in GFSI: i.e. SQF, BRC, and/or other GFSI Scheme an asset HACCP program training an asset Good Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices and HACCP in the food industry Good understanding of Quality Assurance practices and procedures Superior organizational skills and proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities. Excels in troubleshooting and problem solving. Attention to detail; proficiency analyzing information Aptitude to read and interpret documents such as production schedules, safety rules, operating instructions and procedure manuals Ability to write routine reports, compile and document statistical data to maintain quality, quantity and ensure products meet specifications Ability to work in a team or independently with minimal supervision. Capacity to speak clearly and persuasively in all situations; able to listen, get clarification and respond well to questions Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word processing and Excel spreadsheet software an asset Excellent work ethic
