This position will collect, process, and perform testing on various samples gathered from all areas of the Brampton plants and all Holdco plants where applicable. Samples will be primarily microbiological, with some chemical as required. Ensures compliance with regulatory and internal programs, as well as non-regulatory requirements that can be completed at a non-accredited lab as defined by various regulatory agencies.

Sunday \xe2\x80\x93 Thursday (Friday and Saturday off).

What you will be doing

  • Responsible for analyzing and providing results on samples to various management while ensuring adherence to lab standards and practices to maximize food safety and operational effectiveness.
  • Analyze and test against various micro, chemical, and physical methods and then make judgements concerning the results. Take appropriate action to maintain accuracy/precision, and answer inquiries regarding test results, methodology, test specificity/sensitivity, and specific factors that influence test results.
  • Maintain all required records, reports, statistics, logs, files, and other lab documents as required. Use computer programs in lab systems to ensure accurate data entry and retrieval.

What you will bring

  • Undergraduate degree in Microbiology, or a related field required.
  • Minimum two years of experience required in a similar role;
  • Working knowledge of food and meat plant regulatory standards (CFIA, etc.), GMP, HACCP, BRC, food safety, food quality, etc.;
  • Working knowledge of knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), WHMIS, and all other workplace H&S regulations;
  • Team-player with the ability to interact professionally with internal and external stakeholders
  • Analytical, with problem-identification and problem-solving capabilities;
  • Ability to work / excel in a fast-paced environment where attention to detail and effective multi-tasking is essential;
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office)
