Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and energetic Quality Assurance Technician to join our team. In this vital role, you will ensure that our coffee roasting and manufacturing processes meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance. Your expertise will help maintain our reputation for excellence by implementing rigorous quality systems and conducting thorough inspections throughout production.
Responsibilities
Maintain and update the food safety plan
Maintain the Preventive Control Plan (PCP) in accordance with the Safe Foods for Canadians Regulations (SFCR)
Assist in preparing for and participating in internal, third-party, and regulatory audits (e.g., FDA, CFIA, HACCP, organic)
Perform pre-op / post-op inspection
Oversee the environmental monitoring program (Listeria / Salmonella swabbing)
Prepare and participate in mock recall's
Ensure that manufacturing operations are conducted as per the documented SOPs.
Verify sanitation activities and perform swabs.
Perform annual and refresh GMP/ HACCP training to all staff.
Perform GMP and environmental monitoring.
Perform monthly environmental swabbing test.
Complete and maintain GMP records.
Create and update product specifications.
Artwork/Label and packaging specification review
Identify, investigate, and document any quality deviations, product non-conformances, or customer complaints. Work with operations to implement effective corrective actions.
Regulatory support
Monitor and verify the effectiveness of the roastery's pest control program.
Report any deviations, assist in investigations, and verify implementation of corrective actions.
Provide support and complete projects as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree or Diploma in applicable scientific discipline (biochemistry, food science, etc.) or at least one year of experience in Quality Assurance/ Quality Control at a manufacturing plant..
Strong working knowledge of GMPs, HACCP, and/or other food safety standards (e.g., GFSI standards).
