GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:



This is an excellent opportunity for an up-and-coming Quality Assurance professional who is seeking to play a critical role in ensuring the safety of food for Canadians.

The Quality Assurance Supervisor is responsible for Food Safety and Quality programs and protocols of the Lyn grading plant including HACCP Plan, performing CCP/Pre-requisite on-sites, document control, CFIA tasks, third party audits, etc. In addition, the QA Specialist verifies production floor requirements pertaining to food safety, food quality, GMP practices, storage and labelling. This role is the sole QA professional in our Lyn grading facility, reporting directly to the QA Manager at Brockville/Lyn and indirectly to the Plant Manager.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



Maintain, update, and ensure consistent execution of Food Safety and Quality Programs in compliance with CFIA, BRCGS, and customer requirements. Perform annual HACCP Reassessment, CCP and Prerequisite program on-sites quarterly and annually Lead meetings for HACCP team, toolbox talks, etc. Manage the analysis of Environmental Monitoring Program (Salmonella, water sampling) to determine root cause of deficiencies and provide feedback on improvements. Verify floor requirements with respect to food safety, food quality, GMP practices, storage, housekeeping and labelling Lead in conducting root cause analysis for non-conformities and customer complaints. Perform Internal Audits by gathering necessary information as requested by the auditor Lead third party audits (CFIA, BRCGS, Customer) and prepare/coach cross functional team for audits Liaison with CFIA during regular visits and prepared documentation as requested Lead SOPs/SSOPs development and ensure they are maintained as per the document control policy Prepare necessary documentation for all training related to Food Safety and QA programs, and ensures that all relevant training is completed. Develop a positive work environment through excellent interpersonal, team building, and communication skills. Lead cross-functional team investigations to determine root cause and define Corrective/Preventive actions. Analyze data and trends to troubleshoot Food Safety, Quality or Operations related problems. Implement and maintain Visual Management across the facility, including communication boards and product standards. Consolidate and simplify documentation (policies, procedures, forms) to ensure compliance with BRCGS, customer, and Corporate QA requirements. Perform inspections, audits, and routine verifications as assigned. Conduct supplier audits and BRCGS internal audits at sister facilities.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:



Strong verbal and written communication skills. Excellent organizational skills and proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities. Ability to follow instructions and maintain a strong attention to detail. Ability to work as a team or independently with minimal supervision. Develop a positive work environment through excellent interpersonal, team building, and communication skills. Lead by example to build a Food Safety and Quality culture within the facility. Must be able to travel up to 10% of the time to conduct audits. Proficiency with MS Office applications and SAP experience an asset Demonstrate flexibility and availability as required.

MINIMUM EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:



Degree or diploma in Science, Food Technology, Engineering, or related field. 3-5 years experience in a related field in food manufacturing and quality management systems, with HACCP experience an asset. Third party food safety training or certification in HACCP, auditing, and/or GFSI standards. 1-2 years experience with GFSI (SQF, BRCGS, FSSC22000) certification and audits. Excellent computer skills; knowledge of databases, MS Office, etc.
