Job Summary

As the Quality Assurance New Product Specialist role, the successful candidate will ensure effective coordination of the new part approval process and the efficient measuring, testing and recording of samples prior to the release of new products for production. This role will collaborate with the QA lab team, production team, tool room team, maintenance, set up team, processing team, and the new product development group, as well as the certification agencies, technical services group, and other corporate groups to achieve objectives.

Principal Responsibilities

• Represent the Quality Assurance department during the new product development and part approval process
• Create detailed product testing and dimensional reports to assist the new product development team in making informed decisions relative to tooling, and processing
• Measure and perform product testing on samples from new product trial runs and record results
• Complete dimensioning, testing and reporting to satisfy certification agency requirements for approvals
• Generate, review, and update several different document requirements (pack instructions, inspection reports, test methods)
• Build new part approval binders collecting all pertinent product related information in one location making it accessible for future reference
• Measure and analyze the data using statistical methods, capability studies, and creating run / control charts
• Work with Quality Assurance Coordinator to coordinate certification agency witness testing and submissions for part certification
• Develop corrective action for issues that arise during part approvals
• Ensure outsourced molding providers submit part approval packages
• Review, approve, and monitor ongoing outsourced molding providers to verify they are capable of ongoing production that meets all IPEX requirements
• Assist during outside agency audits and inspections, or witness testing as the need arises
• Assist in the investigation of customer complaints through testing or measuring samples
• Member of the internal audit team and auditor
• Develop and promote an atmosphere of continuous improvement within the QA lab as well as on the plant floor
• Assist with gauge calibration scheduling and adherence to procedures
• Maintain a clean and organized (5S) QA lab, testing facilities, and equipment

Requirements:

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum community college diploma or certificate (university preferred)
• Quality Assurance Certificate from a recognized institution or a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering would be an asset
• Knowledge of Process Capability and Statistical Process Control concepts and practices
• Understanding of quality assurance processes and measuring skills.
• Knowledge and understanding of ISO standards and procedures.
• Knowledge of and experience with problem solving techniques
• Proficiency of MS Office, including Excel
• Mechanical proficiency, and the ability to trouble shoot testing fixtures and test set ups
• High attention to detail and ability to produce quality work
