What You'll Be Doing:
Safety
Ensure compliance with all policy, procedures, standards, and regulations.
Conduct investigations and audits and follow-up duties as assigned.
Support facilitation of multidisciplinary sessions to identify possible contributing factors to the event being investigated.
Monitor all employee and external reports of hazards, irregularities, incidents, violations, unusual occurrences, and other safety concerns submitted, and assign the investigation to the appropriate employee for investigation.
Support employees in their investigations of hazards, incidents, accidents, occurrences, and make recommendations for resolution.
Collaborate with supervisors/managers to establish corrective and preventative action plans and monitor implementation.
Monitor the progress of investigations, corrective actions, follow-up, and communications, and report overdue actions or delinquencies to the manager, safety and quality systems.
Collect information gained from the investigation process and compile into a final report supported by facts and data.
Participate in providing safety management (SMS) training to employees in a timely manner including initial in-class and recurrent online training.
Assist in gathering, producing, and maintaining records applicable to the SMS program.
Assist in conducting internal audits in accordance with the company's audit program.
Administer and promote the safety management program and online reporting system.
Assist in determining the needs for, and coordinate the development of, required safety training courses in accordance with legislation and regulations.
Prepare documentation and maintain files for SMS Committee quarterly meetings, record and distribute quarterly meeting minutes to participants following meetings.
Assist with quality assurance functions as required.
Participate in Occupational Health and Safety Committees (OHS) as required and assist in ensuring risk items are appropriately reviewed through the SMS.
Review the safety risk profile, populate the hazard register, and make recommendations regarding the information collected as required.
Quality Assurance
Conduct audits in support of the flight operations and maintenance quality assurance programs.
Analyze and investigate all reports assigned including safety management system, incident investigation, risk assessment, and root cause determination.
Develop and implement, in collaboration with department managers and/or manager of safety and quality systems, corrective action plans.
Make recommendations for mitigation plans and strategies.
Disseminate airplane safety information, both internal and external, in conjunction with the safety management system.
Monitor and analyse trends identified in safety and quality management programs for continuous improvement.
Communicate all compliance, efficiency, and safety discrepancies to the Manager, Safety and Quality Systems.
Provide appropriate acknowledgement and feedback to employees who report safety or quality issues, including the results of event analysis and actions taken.

What You'll Need:
Knowledge and skills required for this position include a post-secondary education in public/environmental safety or business administration from an accredited college or university, with a minimum two years' experience, preferably in an aviation setting.
Knowledge and understanding of Canadian Aviation Regulations with training and experience in aviation risk will be considered an asset.
A combination of education, including professional certifications in OHS and/or aviation safety, and experience may be considered.
