NextStar Energy (NSE) is an innovative joint venture company between LG and Stellantis. It will be Canada's first large-scale lithium-ion battery production plant when it begins production at the Twin Oaks site in Windsor, Ontario. The manufacturing facility will have an annual targeted production capacity in excess of 49 gigawatt hours and will create an estimated 2,500 new jobs in Windsor and the surrounding areas.

The

Quality Inspector

is responsible for ensuring the product standards by inspecting, measuring and testing of materials and parts during the manufacturing process. Responsibilities also includes conducting quality checks, basic lab equipment maintenance, and engage in troubleshooting throughout the production process. Additionally, this role is also involved in disassembling and disposing of scrap materials, filling out reports and escalating results to appropriate team members.


The Quality Inspector will serve as a cross-functional member of the Quality team and may be assigned to support operations within either the Supplier Quality, Module Quality, Cell Quality or Electrode Quality departments, depending on production needs and organizational priorities.

Responsibilities



Inspection of samples that are received, cut and prepared by the inspector, the data is to be entered into our QMS and judged according to our standard. Approves or Rejects electrode samples by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests. Ability to follow, comprehend and execute work instructions. Document and communicate quality findings on electrode samples. Collect defective electrode samples, secure in designated areas. Accomplishes quality and organization mission by completing daily procedures. Report investigation/test/containment results in a clear, concise, and timely manner to the appropriate Supervisor(s). Ability to work well with others. Construct and maintain strong relationships. The inspector will interact with cross-functional teams at the company to ensure the business meets or exceeds expectations. Verifying data to ensure a quality product. Being self-motivated to work individually on tasks while communicating with your team. Check equipment regularly to ensure normal operating activity. Analyze data from measuring devices. Complete daily audits. Ensure work is completed in a safe manner and maintain a safe working environment. Utilize a variety of required PPE to ensure your safety within the plant, during the incoming process. Our positions require at least some and up to all of the following: Nitrile gloves, lab coat, safety glasses, face mask, coveralls, safety shoes, bump cap, etc. + Shows up to work on time, and follows instructions, policies and procedures.
+ Maintains cleanliness in accordance with 3R5S Standards:
+ Right Location, Right Quality, Right Container.
+ Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain.
+ Ability to work within 1% humidity environments for a prolonged period of time.
Adhere to general, and position-specific, dress code requirements. Participate in, and successfully complete, all training requirements. Regular and reliable on-site attendance is required. Perform detailed daily record keeping and reporting. Perform inspections using hazardous chemicals, ensure proper handling and storage of the chemicals are followed according to our safety standards.

Qualifications



High School Diploma or equivalent is required. College Diploma is preferred. Minimum of 2 years of working experience in a fast-paced environment (Manufacturing, laboratory, retail, fast-food, etc). Experience with measuring devices such as microscopes, gauges, computers, calipers, and other measuring instruments preferred. Working understanding of basic statistical concepts and methods. Knowledge of quality control tools and techniques is an asset. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Flexible to work varying shifts to support production schedules including day and night shift on a rotating schedule. Ability to read and interpret prints, graphs, manuals, and measurements is needed. Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking skills. Dexterity, physical strength, and physical stamina.
