Role Summary

To ensure the cost effective management of the procurement and flow of all materials at our division to meet both internal and external customer requirements

Key Responsibilities

1. Ensure on-time supplier delivery with zero defects; on time shipments to customers.
2. Negotiate key supplier contracts/agreements, protecting the interests of Co-Ex-Tec.
3. Ensure compliance to QMS (TS16949), EMS (ISO14001) and security (PIP) requirements.
4. Ensure, with the cooperation of other Co-Ex-Tec departments and Corporate that the division achieves and maintains the highest possible customer rating for satisfaction; strive for zero defects in all areas of the business.
5. Ensure enforcement of Customer Specific Requirements and Quality Management System (TS16949) without compromising either Co-Ex-Tec or its customers.
6. To ensure the effective development of purchasing team as well as the smooth effective flow of communication within the team and organization.
7. To ensure the effective development of purchasing team as to meet Co-Ex-Tec objectives within the framework established by Co-Ex-Tec and corporate policies.
8. Drive year-over-year continuous improvement initiatives in areas of responsibility.
9. Ensure the purchasing team plays a proactive, supportive role in APQP process to protect Co-Ex-Tec interests.
10. Identify training needs of employees and work with Human Resources department to schedule training; ensure cross training plan exists for all required positions.

12. Communicate regularity with department personnel and follow up on generated action items.
13. Follow and enforce all work cell/and or department standardized work instructions/procedures and conduct corrective counseling as required.
14. Update/Generate work instructions/procedures as required.
15. Resolve 8D issues, as required.
16. Complete business plan activities as required.
17. Meet budget requirements.
18. Complete all APQP-related activities; support ECR process as required.
19. Initiate and/or participate in continuous improvement activities.
20. Follow all work cell and/or department standardized work instructions/procedures.
21. Perform housekeeping duties to maintain a clean, safe and organized work area.
22. Promote and comply with health, safety and ISO14001 environmental standards, good housekeeping practices and the observance of protective equipment at all times.
23. Perform regular workplace inspection. Perform accident investigation. Correct unsafe acts or conditions. Train new/transferred/temporary employees on safe methods of conducting their job.
24. Monitor for and eliminate safety hazards in the department.
25. Attend authorized training in order to develop and/or maintain relevant job related knowledge, techniques, skills and/or certification.
26. May be required to carry out job duties and responsibilities in a work environment that may include, but is not limited to, varying levels of noise and or temperature.
27. Perform, direct and or/carry out any other reasonable duties as required by Management.

Key Qualifications/Requirements

  • Post Secondary Degree/Diploma preferred
  • PMAC Designation
  • 3-5 Years automotive (Tier 1) as Purchasing/Materials supervisor within a complex organization
  • Well-developed communication, organizational interpersonal and analytical abilities
  • Sound computer skills, including knowledge of software in current use
  • Supplier contract negotiations
  • Sound leadership skills (previous supervisory experience, preferred)
  • Strong analytical/organizational skills
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing, as asset
