Company Description

We are a dynamic company specializing in the design and manufacture of manufacturing systems. The innovative automation concepts that we use in each system are similar to artificial machine intelligence. The company is located in Terrebonne, near major highways (and far from Montreal traffic!). Our main customers are located in North America but the company plans to expand its market to Europe.



Under the supervision of the Executive Director - Operations and Continuous Improvement, the position holder will be responsible for implementing the overall procurement strategy as well as purchasing activities. He is also responsible for managing the inventory of parts and semi-finished products with the permanent objective of optimizing the cost-quality-availability ratio. The main working tool is the Prextra business management software.

Main Responsibilities

- Establish a global purchasing and supply strategy (volumes and frequency) with engineering and management.
- Identify potential suppliers globally, negotiate contracts and organize the monitoring and evaluation process.
- Place orders with suppliers and ensure follow-up.
- Evaluate the cost and quality of products and handle complaints against suppliers.
- Be responsible for the accuracy of the inventory; improve and design new inventory monitoring and management processes, analyze gaps.
- Optimize inventory levels based on planning, production and stock rotation; ensure the availability of parts for daily production (in coordination with the production department).
- Optimize the subcontracting of assembly and machining of intermediate parts in order to maximize floor space and assign assemblers only to the final assembly of machines.
- Be responsible for the relationship with carriers for the delivery of finished products (planning of pickings, daily monitoring of compliance with schedules, etc.).
- Negotiate and optimize transport costs.
- Management of personnel related to supplies, namely a junior buyer and two storekeepers.
- Good command of continuous improvement tools, and excellent command of Excel.
- Lead improvement projects in the department to improve productivity (optimize storage space, strategic layout of the warehouse, ensure cyclical inventory count monitoring, etc.)

Performance Indicators

- Optimization of overall agreements with suppliers by balancing cost, risk and dependence.
- Inventory accuracy.
- Time for receipt of goods.

Experience, Training and Skills Desired

Skills sought
- Good understanding of material flows in a manufacturing context;
- Demonstrated skills in the use of ERP system (preferably Prextra);
- Global vision of situations and creativity in the search and application of solutions;
- Structure and organization in work; managing multiple priorities;
- Negotiation skills;
- Good communication skills;
- Excellent knowledge of spoken and written English;
- Mastery of the Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Education and Experience
- University degree in business administration, supply chain management, operations management, industrial engineering or other relevant field.
- +7 years of relevant experience in the supply of electronic and mechanical parts within a manufacturing company.
