Position Overview



The

Purchasing Manager

is responsible for overseeing the procurement and inventory management of both

soft line

(apparel, gloves, shoes, accessories) and

hard line

(clubs, balls, equipment, fixtures, maintenance supplies) products across all golf retail and operational departments. This role ensures the company maintains an optimal product mix that supports profitability, brand alignment, and customer satisfaction.

The ideal candidate combines business acumen with a strong understanding of the golf industry, vendor negotiation, and seasonal product planning.

Key ResponsibilitiesProcurement & Product Planning



Develop purchasing strategies for soft and hard line products that align with sales forecasts, member preferences, and seasonal golf trends. Source and select vendors for golf retail, maintenance, and operational supplies, ensuring quality, reliability, and competitive pricing. Manage the purchasing calendar and coordinate product launches, promotions, and restocks with retail and marketing teams. Conduct market research to identify new product opportunities, emerging brands, and innovations in golf equipment or apparel.

Vendor & Supplier Management



Build and maintain strong partnerships with major golf brands and distributors (e.g., Titleist, TaylorMade, Callaway, Ping,etc.). Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules to maximize profitability and operational efficiency. Evaluate supplier performance quarterly based on delivery timelines, product quality, and support responsiveness. Coordinate international and domestic shipments, ensuring compliance with import/export regulations when applicable.

Inventory & Cost Control



Monitor stock levels using inventory management systems to ensure optimal product availability without overstocking. Oversee purchase order creation, approval, and tracking to maintain cost control and cash flow balance. Collaborate with the accounting team to reconcile invoices, returns, and vendor credits. Analyze sales performance data to adjust purchasing decisions for upcoming seasons.

Team & Process Management



Supervise and mentor purchasing coordinators or retail assistants involved in product ordering and inventory control. Standardize purchasing procedures and maintain organized records for audit and financial reporting purposes. Work closely with operations, finance, and retail teams to streamline procurement processes and vendor payments.

Qualifications



Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. Proven experience (2+ years) in a purchasing or procurement management role,preferably within retail or consumer goods, with exposure to both hardline and softline categories. Demonstrated expertise in vendor management, contract negotiation, and supply chain optimization. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills. Proficiency in procurement software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel). In-depth knowledge of the golf equipment and apparel market is highly desirable. Ability to work strategically and operationally in a fast-paced environment.
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
