Summary
Reporting to the Director - PMO & Supply Chain, the Purchasing Manager oversees and participates in all aspects of production planning, purchasing and procurement of raw materials and finished products according to company needs and customer requirements.
Responsibilities
Oversee the planning, purchasing, and procuring operation of raw materials for internal manufacturing and for subcontractors.
Negotiate with suppliers to achieve the most advantageous contracts regarding pricing and terms and conditions of sale for a range of goods and services.
Vendor identification and evaluation with the objective of securing more cost-effective supply sources.
Conduct material requirements planning and ensure delivery schedule in accordance with MRP data.
Establish and manage day-to-day communication with suppliers regarding delivery changes, logistics, quality, expediting, and rework, while optimizing logistics costs and inventory levels.
Act as purchasing department main point of contact.
Establish and document process flows to develop a best-in-class Purchasing operation.
Secure optimum inventory levels to support production and sales requirements.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce cost of goods and increase efficiency.
Ensure data accuracy in all aspects of planning and purchasing within the ERP.
Ensure that all Purchasing and Planning Standard Operating Procedures are adhered to.
Provide directions and training to the team of Buyers and Planners
Ability to source alternate parts and find qualified suppliers or subcontractors.
Ability to identify supply chain risks and ability to address them without jeopardizing operations.
Manage supplier performance issues in accordance with established metrics and supply agreements.
Work with suppliers to get corrective actions on non-conforming parts replaced.
Maintain accurate purchasing records and ensure integrity of planning and part data in ERP system.
Extensive knowledge to interpret Bill of Materials (BOM) and understand Engineering drawings.
Create, issue and maintain purchase orders, as required.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Supply chain, logistics, economics or related.
SCMP, PMAC, or APICS certification is a plus.
5 years' experience in material planning and procurement using an ERP System for manufacturing.
Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office suite including advanced Excel skills.
Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Excellent negotiation skills, critical thinking skills and good judgment.
Very detail oriented with excellent organizational, multi-tasking, and task prioritization skills.
Strong commitment to personal excellence, self-motivated and resourceful.
Capable problem solver who develops effective solutions for complex problems.
Quick learner with ability to gain thorough knowledge of all Weatherhaven products.
