Position Overview:

The Buyer II is responsible for supporting the procurement process within a manufacturing plant by sourcing materials, supplies, and services in a timely, cost-effective manner. This role involves collaborating with various departments to ensure the plant has the necessary materials to meet production schedules while maintaining quality standards. The Junior Buyer will assist in supplier negotiations, order processing, inventory management, and cost control.



Key Responsibilities:

1. Sourcing and Procurement:



Assist in identifying and sourcing suppliers for raw materials, components, and services needed for manufacturing operations. Maintain relationships with existing suppliers and assist in the evaluation and selection of new suppliers based on quality, cost, and delivery performance. Issue purchase orders and follow up on order status to ensure timely delivery of materials.

2. Inventory Management:



Monitor and track inventory levels of materials, ensuring adequate stock to meet production demands without overstocking. Coordinate with production and warehouse teams to maintain accurate inventory records. Assist in inventory cycle counts and reconciling discrepancies.

3. Cost Control and Budgeting:



Assist in negotiating pricing and payment terms with suppliers to secure cost-effective deals. Contribute to cost-saving initiatives by exploring alternative suppliers, materials, or processes. Monitor and report on spending to ensure procurement activities align with the plant's budget.

4. Supplier Coordination:



Communicate effectively with suppliers to manage lead times, order quantities, and any issues related to quality or delivery. Track supplier performance and assist in resolving any issues related to product defects, delays, or shortages.

5. Data and Reporting:



Maintain accurate records of all purchases, supplier communications, and relevant procurement documentation. Prepare purchase reports for review by senior management, highlighting trends, savings, and potential risks.

6. Compliance and Documentation:



Ensure all procurement activities comply with internal policies, industry standards, and legal requirements. Assist in preparing and maintaining proper documentation for audits and regulatory purposes.

Skills and Qualifications:



Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field (preferred). Prior experience in purchasing or procurement, preferably within a manufacturing environment (preferred). Strong communication and negotiation skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Basic knowledge of procurement software or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle). Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Physical Requirements:



Ability to work in a manufacturing plant environment, which may involve occasional lifting and walking through production areas. Comfortable working in office and plant environments.

Working Conditions:



Full-time position with standard working hours (typically Monday through Friday). Occasional overtime may be required to meet production deadlines or deal with urgent procurement needs.
