Position Overview:

We are looking for a Purchasing Agent to join our Foodservice division on a

temporary, full-time basis for a 14-month term. In this role, you'll be responsible for overseeing product purchasing and coordinating with suppliers and internal teams to maintain the right inventory levels and product availability across our operations. You'll monitor market trends, track supplier performance, and ensure orders are placed accurately and on time to meet customer and operational needs. Your accuracy, organization, and follow-through will play a key role in keeping our Foodservice operations running smoothly.

Compensation and Benefits:

Key Responsibilities:

Maintain strong vendor relationships and negotiate contracts to achieve the best pricing and service agreements. Monitor and analyze sales trends, inventory levels, and vendor requirements to generate purchase orders that ensure timely and cost-effective procurement of goods for the Foodservice division. Collaborate closely with the sales team to align purchasing decisions with rising or falling sales trends and customer demand. Track and forecast inventory needs based on sales data, promotions, and seasonal patterns, ensuring sufficient stock while avoiding over-purchasing. Source new products in response to customer requirements and work with the sales and inventory teams to secure desired items. Ensure compliance with purchasing guidelines and internal financial targets while optimizing procurement processes for supplier promotions and seasonal buys. Address inventory-related issues, such as shortages, slow-moving items, and new product opportunities, and communicate these with the sales team to resolve problems quickly. Provide alternatives and substitutions for products and contribute to ongoing efforts in SKU rationalization. Maintain accurate purchasing records and documentation, tracking products such as discontinued items, new products, and pricing changes, ensuring efficient movement of inventory.

Qualifications:

Experience in purchasing, procurement, or a related field, ideally within the food industry. Strong skills in vendor management, contract negotiation, and inventory control (preferred). Excellent communication and negotiation abilities. Ability to analyze data, conduct cost analysis, and identify supply chain trends. Proficient in MS Office and purchasing software systems. High attention to detail and able to manage multiple priorities effectively.
