We are looking for a full-time

Purchase Agent

to join our supply chain team in our Head Office, located in

Dartmouth, NS

. The purchase agent is responsible for product purchases required for HGC sales and service to customers; evaluating and approving vendors and authorizing purchase orders for these products and related materials and components.

Principle Responsibilities

Researches and evaluates suppliers/vendors based on price, quality, selection, service, support, availability, reliability, production and distribution capabilities as well as the supplier's reputation and history Administers bidding process and contracts for vendor performance/compliance for securing product within budget, meeting quality and regulatory standards Negotiates contracts and monitors progress, checking the quality of service provided Contributes to meeting inventory turn targets and forecasting demand Purchases the highest quality products/materials at the lowest possible price and in the correct amounts Participates in the development of specifications for equipment, products or substitute materials Maintains ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) vendor maintenance and purchase orders

Required knowledge and training

High school graduate plus college diploma or related certificate preferred 2 - 3 years in a purchasing role or related experience Makes logical conclusions, anticipates obstacles, and considers different approaches to the decision-making process. Strong computer skills, Microsoft Office Suite with an emphasis on Excel Strong organizational and time management skills Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
