The Purchasing Manager is self-motivated and results driven individual who will report directly to the Planning Manager. The Purchasing Manager will develop, lead and execute purchasing strategies. The Purchasing Manager with knowledge of all facets of the operation, will liaise with the design and production teams to maintain the timely flow of communication; focusing on the coordination of material required to meet project demands and/or resolve material supply and quality issues. Additionally, the incumbent is responsible to understand, and effectively grow the vendor and supplier relationships, identify new opportunities, and shifts in market demand or business conditions and recommend appropriate action.

Assist department manager to take actions on Engineering Change Orders (ECO) and Non-Conformance Reports related to material movements, setup or removal.
Ensure Tradewood's ERP and Manufacturing Planning systems are kept current at all times.
Ensure that all processing centers have a sufficient and accurate supply of required materials to facilitate ongoing activities.
Accurately issue purchase orders in QuickBooks and communicate the report to the appropriate vendor.
Responsible to manage the open Purchase Order report.
Ensure that job codes are allocated to all line item costs issued within a purchase order.
Investigate, report and provide explanations for inventory variances to the department manager.
Coordinate purchase order releases to suppliers with the Planning Manager.
Communicate with outside suppliers regarding shipping or receiving issues/concerns and report outcomes.
Manage and verify Purchase Orders, receipt of goods to packing slips, to ensure inventory levels are accurate and appropriate discounts are taken and late payment penalties are avoided.
Identify and champion innovative improvement to the inventory management system that reflects industry best practices.
Demonstrate commitment to continuous improvement and lean manufacturing principles; this will make the department more efficient and effective regarding the purchasing and flow of inventory through the manufacturing process.
Perform special projects in support of the organizations business objectives.
Other projects and duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
BSc/BA in business administration or relevant field.
Minimum 4 years experience in management capacity.
Strong knowledge of supply chain management required.
Purchasing Management Association of Canada (PMAC) a plus.
Supply Chain Management Professionals (SCMP) a plus.
Experience in developing and implementing strategic and business plans.
Proven history of developing effective inventory management policies.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Able to excel in high pressure situations.
Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office.
Remuneration will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
