We are seeking a seasoned Purchaser with deep experience in manufacturing procurement, supplier negotiations, and cost control. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record managing complex material streams, working closely with production scheduling, and balancing cost efficiency with delivery reliability. This is not an entry-level role, it requires demonstrated expertise in vendor management, MRP/ERP systems, and strategic sourcing within a fast-paced industrial or manufacturing setting.
What You'll Do:
Oversee all purchasing functions for raw materials, packaging components, and production supplies (e.g., aluminum cans, sleeves, lids, inks, pallets, etc.).
Develop and maintain supplier relationships to ensure best-in-class quality, pricing, and reliability.
Negotiate and manage supplier contracts, pricing agreements, and long-term supply commitments.
Collaborate with production, logistics, and inventory control teams to forecast demand and prevent shortages or overstock situations.
Review and analyze MRP/ERP purchase suggestions; adjust based on production schedules and project timelines.
Monitor supplier performance, delivery accuracy, and lead-time compliance.
Continuously assess market conditions, cost trends, and alternative sourcing opportunities.
Maintain accurate records in the ERP system for all purchasing transactions, supplier data, and material costs.
Support continuous improvement efforts in procurement strategy, cost reduction, and workflow efficiency.
What You Bring to the Table:
Minimum 5-7 years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment (packaging, or printing preferred).
Strong knowledge of MRP/ERP systems (experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is an asset).
Proven ability to negotiate effectively and manage vendor relationships at a strategic level.
Demonstrated understanding of supply chain logistics, freight coordination, and inventory control.
Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and follow-through.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Post-secondary education in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field; SCMP designation or equivalent certification is an asset.
