Position Overview



The Purchaser will play an active role in developing and implementing sourcing strategies for raw materials, plant consumables, parts and equipment, and any other goods and services deemed appropriate. The Purchaser will work across teams to ensure Moore Packaging is leveraging spend, driving best value and improving overall supplier performance while maintaining alignment with business and project objectives.

Education:



Post-Secondary Diploma/Degree in related field.

Certified Supply Chain Management Professional (CSCMP) designation or similar is an asset.

Experience:



Minimum 5 years' experience in purchasing role.

Experience in an industrial, custom manufacturing environment, preferably in a corrugated, packaging, textile or paper industry.

Ability to effectively manage projects and complete them in a timely, accurate and cost-effective manner.

Demonstrate professionalism and maintain composure under pressure in a constantly changing environment.

Able and competent to conduct root cause/failure analysis and related investigations and then develop and lead corrective action implementation process.

A good understanding of production processes and ERP systems

Skilled negotiator with experience developing contracts.

Proven analytical and decision-making skills to support effective buying decisions, problem resolution, process improvements cost reductions, etc.

Work Environment/Health & Safety



Uses and promotes personal protective equipment as needed.

Reports unsafe or hazardous situations and work practices and plays a role in correction action.

Understands and complies with the Occupational Health and Safety Act or applicable regulations

General/Daily Duties



Sourcing



Assist the buying team in sourcing and procurement of raw materials, supplies, equipment, and corporate goods and services, including maintenance, freight, and external services.

Proactively identify cost saving opportunities, lead time reductions, quality enhancements and overall improved service levels.

Accountable for the strategic direction and execution of the supplier strategy and procurement plans to optimize cost, performance, and quality.

Approve purchase orders in accordance with company policy.

Coordinate pricing and approved vendor information with other internal company departments

Obtain samples from vendors and follow up with internal departments for validation and approval.

Vendor Management



Perform supplier evaluations.

Lead RFPs and RFIs to continually improve the supplier network strength while reducing costs.

Negotiate contracts and agreements.

Resolve issues with schedule adherence, supplier on-time-delivery, quality, and price (as applicable) by engaging appropriate internal departments.

Maintain positive relations with existing suppliers and source new key suppliers and products.

Secure and update COIs from vendors and contractors.

Materials



Plan and source materials in collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Forecast future procurement needs; monitor stock levels and maintain safety stock. Expedite delivery of goods when appropriate.

Obtain all documentation related to supplier and raw material approvals (i.e.: Product Specs, MSDS, etc.)

Data Collection and Intelligence Reporting



Data collection and analysis of market trends, supplier spend, quality, and delivery metrics.

Assess supplier performance for contracts and purchase orders.

Coordinate, conduct and participate in cross functional team meetings to investigate and recommend continuous process improvement, strategic initiatives and/or cost reduction projects.

Participating in legislative requirements such as Bill 211

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
