Position Summary
To undertake various projects in the Roads and Waste Management Divisions and assist other Public Works staff to ensure that projects undertaken are performed effectively and efficiently to the County?s requirements. Duties to be performed at various County facilities including County owned road allowances, County landfills, Works depots, etc.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Engineering:
Assist Construction Technicians in the supervision/inspection of contracted Capital Projects. Assist in Surveying various roads around the County of Lambton.
Data collection of existing assets and completing inventories which will include inputting into databases and utilizing digital mapping applications etc. Assist County staff in performing bridge and culvert appraisals.
Drawing management, including archiving drawings, digital scanning of existing drawings etc.
Correspondence management, including archiving/filing of dated files, contracts, and tenders.
Complete traffic sign survey, utilizing the Reflectometer, to ensure the existing sign inventory meets the minimum maintenance as outlined in the Municipal Act.
General:
Incumbents must keep up-to-date on all relevant legislation, collective bargaining agreements, County Policies and Procedures, etc. ensuring that these are implemented as prescribed
Incumbents must possess the physical ability to meet the duties and responsibilities of the job description and/or the requirements identified within the position's Physical Demands Analysis.

Credentials Required
Minimum Formal Education
Currently enrolled in a post secondary engineering program (preferably Civil Engineering discipline) at a recognized University or College.
Experience
No previous work experience necessary.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, Powerpoint Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD - Civil 3D), general drafting, general surveying.
Working knowledge in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), including ArcGIS or ArcMap is an asset.
A valid Ontario driver's licence and use of a vehicle is required.
Summer Student positions with the County of Lambton may be dependent on funding and the funding criteria, which specifies that students must:
Be between 15 and 30 years of age
Registered as a full-time student in the previous academic year and returning to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year
Canadian citizens, permanent residents or have refugee protection status under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
Legally entitled to work in Canada
