Job Summary
Arnott Construction is seeking a dedicated and organized Public Relations Officer (PRO) to support the Bay Street & Grey St Reconstruction Project. This role is essential to maintaining strong communication between the construction team and the surrounding community, ensuring minimal disruption to residents and businesses, and supporting the project team with administrative and operational tasks.
Key Responsibilities
Act as the primary point of contact for residents, business owners, and stakeholders, responding to inquiries
Organize and attend community meetings to provide updates on project progress, schedules, and anticipated impacts.
Connect with residents, businesses, and stakeholders prior to construction start up to open lines of communication and gather relevant information.
Prepare and distribute weekly progress reports to stakeholders, including work completed, upcoming activities, potential disturbances, and schedule changes.
Maintain a detailed inquiry log, tracking communications, assigned responses, resolutions, and follow-up actions. Along with daily photographic documentation of site conditions.
Support general project administration, including document management, coordination with municipal and engineering teams, and maintaining project records.
Assist the Site Supervisor with daily operations, including subcontractor coordination, site logistics, and communication with field staff.
Coordinate with property owners regarding utility service locations (sanitary, water, storm), ensuring continuity of service and arranging temporary solutions as needed.
Maintain records of Permissions To Enter (PTE) and approvals for tree removals or property access.
Foster a positive public image of the project through transparency, responsiveness, and professionalism.
Qualifications
Required:
Experience in public relations, community engagement, or administrative support--preferably in construction or infrastructure projects.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Excellent organizational and reporting abilities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Preferred:
Experience working with municipalities or public infrastructure projects.
Familiarity with construction terminology and processes.
Project Duration
This position is tied to the Bay Street Reconstruction Project, with an expected duration of approximately 18 months.
Job Type: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 18 months
Pay: $25.00-$30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35 - 50 per week
