The opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced Public Relations Manager to join our dynamic marketing team. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in public relations and a background in finance or banking is an asset. Reporting to the Director of Communications, the individual in this role will be responsible for developing and implementing effective public relations and communications strategies to promote our company and its products and services.

This opportunity is for a seasoned professional with the ability to commute to the corporate office in Orillia, Ontario. The position offers a hybrid work arrangement with some flexibility in hours.

You will be responsible for:

  • Leading the development and execution of comprehensive communication strategies and programs to drive organizational goals and enhance the company\'s brand and reputation.
  • Acting as the in-house public relations specialist, drafting, and distributing press releases, announcements, responding to media inquiries, and arranging interviews.
  • Utilizing superior copywriting, editing, and proofing skills to create compelling and effective PR materials that align with the company\'s brand and messaging.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with journalists, media outlets, and industry influencers to create opportunities for the brand and key executives.
  • Writing, editing, and assisting in the distribution of internal and external communications, including emails, presentations, and newsletters.
  • Collaborating with the broader marketing team and other key stakeholders within the company to ensure consistent messaging and seek out opportunities for content, storylines, etc.
  • Monitoring, tracking, and analyzing media coverage and public opinion to evaluate the effectiveness of PR strategies and identify areas for improvement.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in public relations and communications, a background in the finance industry is an asset, but not required.
  • Experience in USA public relations and communications is a huge plus!
  • Degree in public relations, communications, journalism or equivalent work experience.
  • Creativity and curiosity in developing and implementing effective PR strategies.
  • Familiarity with public relations/social media platforms and distribution channels.
  • Proven ability to write clear, persuasive, and compelling content.
  • Ability to think strategically and identify opportunities for media coverage.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with industry trends, best practices, and professional standards.
