About the position:
The Casual Public Health Nurse will be responsible for the provision of nursing interventions which promote and preserve the health of communities, families and individuals across the lifespan; functions as part of a multi-disciplinary team planning, developing, implementing and evaluating programs and services; uses principles of community development to identify health issues, advocates for policy change; applies innovative health promotion strategies to facilitate healthy living in the community. The Causal Public Health Nurse support all Haldimand-Norfolk office locations, and can be scheduled to replace, on a short term basis, RN vacancies during times of recruitment or unusual demands for service ("surge capacity"). Shifts shall be offered by following the Shift Distribution and Call-In Process for Available Tours LOU.
Qualifications and Competencies
:
Baccalaureate Degree in nursing including preparation in Public Health
Current registration with the Ontario College of Nurses
Current Certificate of CPR
Minimum of two (2) years' experience in nursing is preferred
Experience in community-based service delivery
Self-starter demonstrating initiative and with the ability to take appropriate action/direction
Demonstrated knowledge and decision-making skills in health assessment, knowledge and understanding of the core functions and approaches of public health practice, strong project management skills
Being current, comfortable and competent in giving injections intramuscularly, and subcutaneously, to individuals of all ages, in multiple settings (e.g. clinic, school, community center etc.) is an asset.
Proven ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team setting
Comfortable with the use of technology and databases, including Panorama, is preferred
Proficient oral and written communication skills required
Be proactive in adhering to Health and Safety practices
Ability to provide non-judgmental and inclusive service to all clients
Travel between multiple sites may be required.
A valid Ontario driver's license, with valid insurance and reliable vehicle access
Required to provide proof of immunization records including the full series of the COVID-19 vaccination.
Terms and conditions of employment in accordance with the ONA Haldimand-Norfolk Nurses' Collective Agreement.
Hourly wage range: $38.40/hour - $59.28/hour, maximum 35 hours in a two-week period.
