The PHMU program is evolving as a Public Health transformation area of work to continue to support community work. The PHMU work delivers health services to communities across the province supporting emergency preparedness, healthy communities, health protection, early years, and immunization.The Public Health Mobile Unit (PHMU) Driver is part of the collaborative health care team, responsible for the safe operation of the service provision vans. The role may include assisting clients, delivery of supplies, equipment, vaccines, and specimens, set up and tear down of clinic and workspaces, following Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) guidelines, prepare and maintain an inventory of equipment and supplies, provide post-immunization observation, monitor, and support vehicle maintenance, as well as other support functions. The PHMU Driver is a provincial role thus travel across Nova Scotia may be required.About YouWe would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Successful completion of Grade 12
  • Must have a valid Nova Scotia Class 5 driver\'s license with minimum ten years driving experience with a clean driving abstract with the past five years
  • Completion of a defensive driving course is an asset
  • Familiarity with vehicles used and their operation
  • Trained in \xe2\x80\x9cTransportation of Dangerous Goods by Ground\xe2\x80\x9d an asset
  • Must be able to work in an environment that is at times, adverse. For example, noise; dust and fumes may be present. May be exposed to prevailing weather conditions and congested traffic.
  • While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent must exercise care and judgement, with priorities being safety, courtesy, and common driving sense.
