About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Health Protection Manager, the Public Health Investigator plays a vital role in the health system by providing expert level knowledge related to enteric illness, vector borne disease investigations, and environmental health practices relating to outbreak investigation. The PHI implements Health Protection Program(s), protecting individual and community health through health promotion and health protection per Provincial Acts, Legislation, and By-Laws. The PHI carries out health protection activities required by the Health Protection Act, NS Public Health Standards and Protocols, and associated regulations, such as identifying public health hazards. The PHI is a designate of the Medical Officer of Health and fulfills identified roles to eliminate or decrease the risk of communicable disease, a notifiable disease, a health hazard, or public health emergency.
