The Alzheimer Society of Brant, Haldimand Norfolk, Hamilton Halton (ASBHNHH) is looking for a part-time permanent Public Education Coordinator (Dementia Friendly Communities) to support both Hamilton & Halton regions. This position facilitates building Dementia Friendly Communities (DFC) through the delivery of information, education, resources and tools for various groups of focus. Various groups include people living with dementia, their families, friends, caregivers, peers, service providers and the community at large.
This position will focus on developing, fostering community partnerships, outreach to underserved communities within the Alzheimer Society, Brant, Haldimand Norfolk, Hamilton, Halton service geography and an initial focus on Hamilton and Halton. Underserved communities include Indigenous communities, newcomers to Canada, ethnocultural, linguistic communities, LGBTQ2S+, vulnerable socio-economic groups, etc.

The hourly range for this role is $20.22-$30.33.
This position can be primarily located in Hamilton or Burlington but flexibility to work out of Hamilton and/or Burlington based on business needs is required. This position also includes travel within the Hamilton and Halton regions. Office hours are Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, but occasional evening work may be required.
Specialized Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
? Demonstrated working experience in adult education and knowledge of adult education principles and practices.
? Demonstrated working experience with adult education program design and evaluation is an asset.
? Demonstrated experience working with databases and various communication tools/platforms such as Zoom or Microsoft Teams
? Current knowledge on dementia and expertise in all aspects of dementia care.
? Excellent presentation skills, written and oral communication skills, and strong interpersonal skills.
? Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
? Ability to work both as part of a team and in a self-directed manner with a minimal amount of supervision.
? Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications.
? A valid driver?s license and access to a vehicle are required.
? Fluency in French or other language(s) is an asset.
Educational Requirements:
? A degree or diploma in health or social services is required.
? Educational specialization in the areas of gerontology and dementia is preferred.
