Job Description


The Clinical Research Program at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is currently seeking a casual Psychologist for the Translational Addiction Research Laboratory (TARL) to deliver psychotherapy care. The goal of TARL is to improve treatment of drug addiction. Various approaches are used such as clinical trials, laboratory-based experiments, and multi-disciplinary basic and observational research. The primary focus is to develop novel therapeutic strategies in clinical populations with various substance use disorders. Drugs of abuse commonly studied include cannabis, alcohol, tobacco, and opiates.

You will provide comprehensive assessments as well as evidence-based treatment in individual and on occasion, group formats. This work will involve delivering twice-weekly Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to a group of women and gender non-conforming individuals with methamphetamine use disorder and co-occurring psychiatric disorders or poly-substance use. You will also be involved in the delivery and evaluation of individual and group-based programming, utilizing motivational interviewing and relapse prevention skills training. You will work in a collaborative multidisciplinary environment, engaging in education and training opportunities, as well as have the capacity to deliver training to scientists, fellows, graduate students and other trainees. There will be an expectation to support regulatory obligations related to clinical research and to be involved in the submission of grants and projects to different regulatory bodies. While the primary accountability of this position is that of a Psychologist, the successful candidate will be expected to participate in multiple aspects of the research that is performed within the laboratory.

Qualifications
The successful candidate must be a registered member in good standing as a Psychologist in autonomous practice with the College of Psychologists of Ontario and have a doctoral degree in Psychology (Ph.D., Psy.D,, Ed.D., D.Psy.) with a minimum of three (3) years of experience in clinical psychology, clinical research and data analysis. You will have some prior experience in delivering ACT intervention.

The successful candidate will possess sound judgment, excellent organizational, communication (verbal/written) and strong analytical skills. The demonstrated ability to cultivate internal and external relationships and collaborate effectively with colleagues, decision makers and the scientific community is required. You must be able to lead and work effectively within an interdisciplinary team and interact comfortably with diverse community partners. The capacity to work with individuals of diverse ethno-racial and cultural backgrounds is required. Bilingualism (English/French) and/or proficiency in a second language is considered an asset.

Salary Range: $50.11 - $67.57 per hour
