Your Opportunity:Step Up Step down (SUSD) is a voluntary mental health and addiction treatment program for youth ages 13-17. SUSD is comprised of a live-in program and an intensive outpatient program (IOP). This is an exciting and unique opportunity for a Family Counsellor to join our team! The Family Counsellor is the primary clinician providing therapeutic intervention to families in our live-in inpatient program as well as the intensive outpatient program. We are looking for an experienced candidate to join our team at the brand-new Center for Excellence! The successful candidate will be an integral member of the multidisciplinary team in the first of its kind Center, where multiple agencies come together to provide the best possible care to children, youth and families from a trauma informed lens. The Family Counsellor is responsible for providing family therapy services and follow-up to a varied caseload consisting of families of the youth who are enrolled in Step Up Step Down and experiencing distress related to moderate to severe mental illness. The successful candidate will help support all programs under the Red Deer Child, Youth and Families Addiction and Mental Health Program (including Unit 39 - Youth Acute Stabilization, PChAD (Youth Detox and Stabilization) and the Outpatient Clinic in Red Deer.Description:As a Psychologist I, you will work with or within teams to provide a range of standard level psychology services to patients and their families within the established standards, directives, and policies for the work environment. Your services may include psychological screening and/or assessment, diagnosis, interventions, rehabilitation, prevention and promotion, as well as educational activities. You will collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team of healthcare professionals in planning and implementing services that align with best practices and ethical and professional standards. You will provide input to the interprofessional team related to psychological factors, barriers and dynamics that influence client treatment planning, participation, outcomes and team functioning, and consult and collaborate with teams and community services. Your duties may also include providing supervision to psychometrists, provisional psychologists and/or masters level psychology students, and providing input into program, policy and/or procedure development in addition to participating in formal research initiatives.

Required Qualifications:Master\'s degree in Psychology in an applied area relevant to the practice setting from an accredited university program. Active or eligible for registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP). Additional Required Qualifications:Completion of one of the following programs: master\'s degree in Psychology; master\'s degree in Social Work (clinical specialization), master\'s degree in marriage and family therapy including education in mental health assessment and psychotherapy; master\'s degree in Occupational Therapy including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy; master\'s degree in Nursing and Psychiatric Nursing including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. All applicants are to be registered with a regulating body under the Health Professions Act. May be required to work out of Red Deer Provincial building, Red Deer Regional Hospital, Michener Bend (Protective Safe House and Step Up Step Down), and eventually the new Center of Excellence. This candidate is required to have knowledge and minimum 5 years post-graduate experience working with children, youth, and families, be flexible and adaptable to program and clients changing needs as well as be motivated to learn and develop clinical skills and teach/mentor students and other team members, understanding the complex relationships between the youth\'s physical, emotional, mental, developmental, and spiritual health.
