Job Description

Location: Park Ave, Newmarket, ON
Schedule: Friday to Sunday, 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Duties



Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support. Monitor patient health by taking vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration; report any irregularities to healthcare professionals. Support medication administration following prescribed care plans Prepare nutritious meals tailored to dietary needs and assist with feeding when necessary. Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning living areas, laundry, and organizing supplies. Observe and document changes in residents' conditions or behaviors; communicate updates clearly to supervisors or healthcare teams. Operate medical equipment including Hoyer lifts, wheelchairs, or other assistive devices safely. Participate in care planning meetings to develop personalized care strategies aligned with each individual's needs. Provide companionship and emotional support to foster social interaction and reduce feelings of isolation. Follow all safety protocols including CPR, First Aid procedures, and emergency response plans. Support residents with memory care needs such as Alzheimer's or dementia by implementing specialized techniques that promote comfort and safety. Assist with mobility using appropriate lifting techniques or equipment like the resident's Hoyer lift or transfer belts. Engage residents in recreational activities that promote mental stimulation and physical activity within their capabilities.

Requirements



Proven experience in home health, assisted living, nursing home environments, or group homes is highly preferred. Knowledge of patient observation techniques and ability to monitor vital signs accurately. Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional certifications such as HIPAA compliance are a plus. Familiarity with working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, Alzheimer's disease, dementia, or memory care needs is highly desirable. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when assisting residents with mobility or transfers using equipment like Hoyer lifts. Strong communication skills for collaborating effectively with healthcare teams, residents, families, and colleagues. Flexibility to work various shifts including days, evenings, weekends or overnight shifts as needed. Compassionate attitude combined with patience and resilience in challenging situations. Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards by performing light housekeeping duties such as cleaning patient areas, laundry, and organizing personal belongings. Use appropriate equipment like Hoyer lifts or resident lifts to assist with heavy lifting or transfers safely. Document all care activities meticulously in patient records and update care plans regularly in collaboration with healthcare teams. Engage in patient observation to identify changes in condition or behavior that may require further medical attention or intervention. Support residents' social engagement by participating in recreational activities and fostering a positive environment. Follow all safety protocols and emergency procedures, including CPR and first aid certification requirements. Collaborate effectively with team members, family members, and healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive patient care.

Qualifications

Experience working within long-term care settings or hospice environments is a plus. Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to privacy regulations such as HIPAA at all times.
