Job Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Support Worker (PSW) to join our team in the Toronto Beaches (East End) area. The ideal candidate will provide essential support and care to clients, enhancing their quality of life while promoting independence in their daily activities. This role is crucial in delivering personalized care to individuals with varying needs, including seniors and those with disabilities.

Responsibilities

Assist clients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, grooming, and dressing. Provide companionship and emotional support to clients, fostering a positive environment. Administer medication as prescribed and monitor client health conditions. Prepare nutritious meals according to dietary requirements and preferences. Assist with mobility and transfers, ensuring safety and comfort for clients. Maintain a clean and safe living environment for clients by performing light housekeeping tasks. Document care provided and report any changes in client condition to the appropriate healthcare professionals. Support clients with dementia care, ensuring they receive appropriate attention and understanding. Collaborate with family members and healthcare teams to develop personalized care plans.

Qualifications

Previous experience in caregiving or home care is preferred, particularly in senior care or assisted living settings. Knowledge of dementia care practices is an asset. Familiarity with medication administration protocols is beneficial. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with clients and their families. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, demonstrating reliability and professionalism. Compassionate nature with a genuine desire to help others improve their quality of life. Must be able to pass background checks as required by the organization.
