Job Description

The PSW Placement Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting students enrolled in the Personal Support Worker program by preparing them for successful clinical placements. This role involves coordinating with healthcare partners, managing placement documentation, and ensuring students meet all compliance requirements. The Coordinator serves as a liaison between students, faculty, and placement sites to ensure a smooth and compliant experiential learning process.

Key Responsibilities:



Student Placement Preparation:



Guide students through the process of gathering and submitting all required placement documentation (e.g., immunization records, CPR/First Aid, police clearance, TB test results). Review documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with Ministry and placement partner requirements. Maintain organized records of each student's placement readiness.

Placement Coordination:



Build and maintain relationships with long-term care homes, hospitals, community agencies, and other relevant facilities to secure quality placement opportunities. Match students with appropriate placement sites based on availability, location, and program requirements. Communicate placement details clearly and professionally to students and placement sites.

Ongoing Support and Monitoring:



Provide orientation and briefing sessions to students regarding placement expectations, conduct, and health and safety protocols. Act as the point of contact for students and site supervisors throughout the placement period. Address and resolve placement-related issues promptly in collaboration with academic staff.

Administrative Duties:



Track placement progress, completion hours, and evaluation forms in accordance with program standards. Ensure all placement documentation is filed and available for regulatory audits or Ministry reviews. Support program compliance by updating placement tracking systems regularly.

Qualifications:



Education and Experience:



Experience working in the healthcare or education sector, ideally with placement coordination or student services. Familiarity with PSW program standards and Ministry guidelines preferred.

Skills and Competencies:



Excellent organizational and time management skills. Strong interpersonal and communication abilities. Ability to build and maintain professional relationships with community partners. Proficient in MS Office and student information systems. High attention to detail and confidentiality when handling student records.

Working Conditions:



Onsite at GLOW College Brampton Campus with occasional travel to placement sites. May require occasional evening or weekend communication depending on placement partner needs.

Pay: $20.00-$21.00 per hour

Expected hours: 24 per week
