Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Support Worker (PSW) to provide essential care and support to individuals in various settings, including assisted living facilities, group homes, and private residences. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to enhancing the quality of life for our clients, particularly those with developmental disabilities, dementia, or Alzheimer's disease. This role requires a blend of personal care skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
Duties
Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
Provide personal care and support for individuals with diverse needs, including those with developmental disabilities and memory care requirements.
Monitor and document vital signs and any changes in the client's condition or behavior.
Prepare nutritious meals and assist with meal planning according to dietary needs.
Maintain a clean and safe living environment through regular cleaning and organization of client spaces.
Implement care plans developed by healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive support for each client.
Administer medications as prescribed while adhering to HIPAA regulations.
Engage clients in social activities that promote mental stimulation and emotional well-being.
Assist with mobility using equipment such as Hoyer lifts when necessary.
Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance clients' overall quality of life.
Qualifications
Previous experience in home health care, assisted living, or long-term care settings is preferred.
Knowledge of first aid and CPR certification is highly desirable.
Familiarity with patient observation techniques and monitoring vital signs is essential.
Experience working with individuals who have Alzheimer's, dementia, or autism is beneficial.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
Physical capability to perform heavy lifting and assist clients with mobility needs.
Understanding of patient care protocols, including medication administration and care planning.
