In this role, you'll wear a few important hats: communicator, connector and strategist. You'll help lead province-wide initiatives that promote gender equity, rural inclusion, and social justice -- while creating compelling content that informs, inspires, and mobilizes communities.
What You'll Do
Community Engagement & Outreach
Organize events, webinars, and campaigns that mobilize communities and strengthen connections.
Encourage community leadership and volunteer engagement in advocacy initiatives.
Foster collaboration among Women's Centres and allies to advance shared priorities.
Communications
Develop and deliver impactful communication strategies that promote the Centres' mission, programs, and events.
Create engaging content for newsletters, social media, websites, press releases, and campaign materials.
Coordinate digital marketing and social media campaigns that amplify our advocacy work and celebrate community achievements.
Design visually appealing print and digital materials to strengthen public engagement and awareness.
Support internal communications and ensure staff and volunteers are informed and inspired by shared goals.
Strategic Planning & Collaboration
Strengthen the collective impact of Women's Centres across Nova Scotia by coordinating shared initiatives, research, and advocacy efforts.
Support province-wide environmental scans, needs assessments, and evaluation projects to identify service gaps and emerging issues.
Act as a liaison between Women's Centres, government stakeholders, and community partners to promote responsive, evidence-informed engagement.
Support sustainable service expansion, especially in rural, Indigenous, and equity-deserving communities.
What You Bring
A degree or diploma in communications, social work, public policy, community development, or a related field or equivalent experience.
3-5+ years experience in advocacy, communications, or nonprofit program coordination.
Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills across platforms (social, web, print, presentations).
Familiarity with gender equity, women's rights, and rural advocacy in a Nova Scotia context.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Canva, social media management, and content creation tools.
Experience with program evaluation, data analysis, or community-based research is an asset.
Creative energy, organizational savvy, and a collaborative spirit.
