Reporting to the Director, Projects Centre of Expertise and Provincial Programs, the Provincial Project Manager is responsible to manage building infrastructure provincial initiatives undertaken by the Zone based Design and Construction Project Management teams as well as assist in the onboarding, training, and mentoring of the Zone based Project Management teams. This position will be expected to understand the Project Management Knowledge areas and be able to guide project teams through the established policies, processes, procedures and key controls in place within Alberta Health Services through the project life cycle, including project initiation, planning & design, execution, close-out, monitoring and control. Though the Design and Construction projects are delivered by the Zone based project management teams, this position should be familiar with building infrastructure design and construction procurement, contracting and project delivery in order to provide advice and counsel to project teams for all major and minor capital projects and complex operational building infrastructure projects within Alberta Health Services. The Provincial Project Manager specific duties will include, but are not limited to, assisting the Director in the development of the Alberta Health Services Design and Construction Project Management procedures, standardization, key controls, audit and compliance checks, reporting, schedule and budget management activities. Further, this position will be the process owner, subject matter expert and lead trainer of the project management software tool used by the Design and Construction Project Management teams.

Required Qualifications: Bachelor Degree in Architecture, Engineering or Project Management (Building Construction) or a Technology Diploma in Architecture, Building or Engineering and/or Journeyman Trade Certificate. 7 years in a construction project management role in an organization of significant size, complexity and diversity. Proven ability to manage, mentor, motivate and train Project Management teams related to construction and/or project management concepts, methods and practices. Knowledge of applicable provincial, regional and municipal bylaws, codes, regulations, policies and procedures.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Knowledge of construction contract law and procurement rules, regulations and requirements. Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communications skills including facilitation and presentation skills. Proven capacity to work well under pressure. Excellent analytical reasoning and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated knowledge of computerized project management and engineering programs. Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office Professional software. Capacity to achieve organizational goals and project management objectives such as budgets, schedules and service delivery requirements. Practical experience in strategy, policy development, leadership, and project and program management. Proven ability to foster partnerships.
Preferred Qualifications:
PM experience as a public sector Owner\xe2\x80\x99s rep is preferred. Knowledge of heath care projects within a fully operating Acute Care facility an asset. Experience working with a/o managing external consultants, contractors, government agencies & regulators is preferred. A member in good standing with the AAA, APEGGA, ASET or PMP designation associated in the Building Infrastructure Industry is an asset. Familiarity with the AHS regions, Alberta Health, a/o Alberta Infrastructure is an asset.
