We are looking for a Protective Services Officer II that is familiar with Canadian Law as well as current legislation relating to fire, security & law enforcement. Someone that understands the application of security technology in assessing situations & has strong interpersonal, communication, organizational & administrative skills. Self-defense training including restraint & handcuffing techniques are an asset as well as computer application skills in a Microsoft Window/Office environment & good documentation & report writing skills. Effective handling of stress, conflict/negotiation skills is needed. Physical exertion is required with lifting, pushing, pulling, restraining & standing for long periods. Ability to provide a positive & friendly approach that will enable you to deal with challenging situations with empathy & sincerity. Ability to work effectively independently, & within a team, effectively managing his or her time & setting priorities when faced with multiple tasks & deadlines over some time. Open to occasional travel & possible overnight stay based on out-of-zone urgent response requirements. AHS currently has a Northern Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $6,300. This allowance is non-pensionable & is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay. Permanent & temporary employees working more than one (1) year whose work sites are above the 57th parallel are also eligible to receive an annual reimbursement of personal travel expenses to an annual maximum of $1,235. Eligible employees will be reimbursed for the cost of one (1) round trip, per calendar year, to any destination within Alberta. Travel must originate from a community above the 57th parallel to any destination within Alberta and cannot be carried over.
Description:
As a Protective Services Officer II, you will provide security and protective services for all patients, visitors, staff and AHS property including: violence monitoring, prevention and intervention; enforcement of applicable federal, provincial and municipal statutes; asset loss prevention and internal investigations; preparation of court documents and securing evidence; risk assessment and hazard identification; arrests, apprehensions and detentions of persons and first responder to critical events. You will provide support for facility departments on matters of security and safety practices, participates in reviewing and recommending policy, and fosters and maintains positive public relations through relationships with internal and external contacts.
