About the Opportunity:
We are seeking a dynamic Analyst, Research and Prospect Analytics to join our Development Operations team. This role is key in delivering well-researched, decision-ready information and analysis that supports BCCF's mission to secure transformational support. Working closely with the Major Gifts team, the Analyst will conduct prospect research, contribute to prospecting projects, and ensure that fundraising staff have access to accurate, timely, and strategic information. Additionally, the Analyst will assist with media monitoring and apply data segmentation to enhance BCCF's fundraising activity.
Reporting to the Senior Analyst, Research & Prospect Analytics, the key responsibilities of this role include:
Develop and apply a sound understanding of the fundraising sector, including donor cultivation and the stages of gift development, to support prospect research and fundraising strategies
Conduct, complete, and deliver prospect research deliverables to meet the needs of fundraising staff, with the ability to interpret and explain research findings
Support the identification and qualification of potential major gift prospects by utilizing internal data, external sources, and industry best practices
Provide preliminary estimated giving capacity based on indicators of wealth
Synthesize information from multiple in-depth sources into concise documents
Prepare comprehensive profiles and reports for Board and Campaign candidates
Incorporate due diligence into research and assess findings for potential reputational risks.
Monitor news and media outlets to keep the Development team informed of donor developments and major philanthropic activities in B.C.
Analyze giving patterns among current donors and high-level prospects to identify opportunities for deeper engagement and growth with BCCF
Coordinate with the Manager, Development Operations, to track and manage pipeline progress, identify areas requiring attention and assist in accountability reporting
Utilize a wide range of resources for research, including printed materials, online databases, news and other media sources, community networks, and existing internal records.
Keep informed of emerging research technologies and resources, making recommendations as needed
Attend meetings with fundraisers and major gift teams to understand their donor information needs ensure research aligns with their objectives
Maintain accurate prospect and donor information in Raiser's Edge database through collaboration with the Database and Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, and Advancement Services teams, including batch uploads and data updates.
Q ualifications
A degree or diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution in a related field; an advanced degree in Library & Information Studies is an asset
Minimum 1-2 years experience in prospect research, stewardship and/or fund development, preferably including full or partial responsibility for prospect research in a fundraising environment; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Core Knowledge + Skills:
Ability to research, analyze, interpret, synthesize financial data, reports and other information to inform prospect and donor strategies effectively
Expertise in utilizing search engines, databases, and other print and online resources relevant to prospect research
Possess a general understanding of major gift fundraising practices, including donor cultivation and the stages of gift development
Demonstrated professionalism and discretion in handling highly sensitive and confidential information, adherence to professional standards and safeguarding the confidentiality of BCCF, BC Cancer, donors and prospective donors
Ability to manage tight timelines and competing priorities effectively
Strong interpersonal skills with superior written communication abilities, capable of providing clear and concise executive summaries
Proficiency with MS Outlook and database/information management systems

Salary Range: $55,000-$72,000
