Controller

What We're Looking For:
A proven leader with experience in property management accounting and reporting.
Experience and expertise in
Yardi
, with the ability to help with the implementation and build-out of the property management platform
As the property accounting team grows, the ability to take on many roles and responsibilities, while seeking the appropriate team members.
The Role:
Lead and manage a team of property accountants
, providing mentorship, training, and performance oversight
Oversee day-to-day accounting operations for a portfolio of multi-residential rental properties across Alberta
Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting, including month-end and year-end processes
Prepare and review budgets, forecasts, and financial statements
Managing Ownership relationships with weekly/monthly meetings as requested by owners
Prepare ownership funding requests and distributions
Liaise and provide back-up to external broker and RECA as required
Conduct appropriate analysis of the ledger, financial reports and job costing for several different ownership groups
Provide operating and field personnel with strong financial management support on an ongoing basis
Preparing Annual CAM reconciliations for commercial properties
Conduct variance analysis and present results to ownership and senior management
Ensure all accounting procedures are compliant with internal policies and regulatory requirements
Maintain and optimize accounting workflows in?
Yardi Voyager
Liaise with property managers and executive leadership to support operational and financial performance
Coordinate with external auditors and third-party stakeholders when required
Who You Are:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or equivalent designation strongly preferred) or equivalent experience
Progressive accounting experience in the multi-residential property management section is required, including minimum of 5 years supervising staff
Relationship Skills: ability to communicate effectively, both oral and written; ability to develop and sustain cooperative working relationships; ability to develop leadership in others; team player; ability to lead
Organizational/Multi-Tasking: ability to allocate one's time effectively, work under pressure, and meet tight deadlines; ability to handle multiple demands and competing priorities; ability to prioritize and delegate workload; ability to work at a detailed level; willingness to learn in a dynamic environment that includes new ideas and change
Decision Making Skills - ability to identify, analyze, and solve problems; ability to take decisive action; ability to resolve conflict
Computer Skills: Advanced proficiency in

; intermediate to advanced skills in Excel, Word, and other Microsoft Office programs
