Open Arms Resource Center is committed to transforming lives by providing compassionate, impactful services to individuals experiencing homelessness.

The Property Management Administrator is responsible for the overall upkeep, safety, and maintenance of facilities related to Open Arms Resource Centre, including office space, shelters, apartment buildings. This role combines hands-on maintenance, property management, and tenant relations. The ideal candidate will be resourceful, approachable, and able to balance doing small repairs themselves while knowing when to call in professionals.

Responsibilities



Property & Building Maintenance

Perform regular inspections of buildings, units, and grounds to identify and address maintenance needs. Carry out minor repairs (e.g., replacing light bulbs, unclogging drains, patching small holes, tightening fixtures). Conduct regular janitorial duties of cleaning and upkeep of properties and facilities. Maintain outdoor areas, including mowing, shoveling, raking, and general yard work. Coordinate and oversee contracted services (plumbers, electricians, pest control, etc.) as needed. Ensure compliance with health, safety, and building regulations.
Tenant Relations & Support

Act as the first point of contact for tenant concerns, complaints, and maintenance requests. Support a safe, respectful, and positive living environment by addressing issues promptly and fairly. Collect rent when required. Assist with move-ins and move-outs, including unit checks and preparing units for new tenants.
Administration & Reporting

Maintain maintenance logs, repair schedules, and contractor records. Monitor inventory of supplies and equipment and request replacements as needed. Report recurring maintenance issues or tenant concerns to leadership for further action.

Knowledge & experience



Required experience:

Experience in property maintenance, cleaning, or building operations (non-profit housing experience considered an asset). General handiness and ability to complete cleaning tasks and light repairs.
Preferred experience:

Knowledge of issues related to poverty, homelessness, and housing.

Core competencies



Strong problem-solving skills and judgment in knowing when to engage professional trades. Good communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with tenants, contractors, and staff. Ability to maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and boundaries in a service-based environment. Basic technology skills for recordkeeping and communication.

Physical Requirements



Sitting or standing for long hours. Ability to lift approximately 20 lbs. Ability to work on your feet for extended periods of time. Requires physical activity including lifting, shoveling, mowing, and other maintenance tasks.

Working conditions



Must have access to a reliable and adequately insured vehicle, and a valid driver's license. Clear Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Check PRIOR to Employment. Flexibility to respond to occasional after-hours or urgent issues.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $25.00-$26.00 per hour

Expected hours: 32 - 40 per week
