The TTC\'s recruitment efforts are directly aligned to its mission of providing "a reliable, efficient, and integrated bus, streetcar and subway system that draws its high standards of customer care from our rich traditions of safety, service and courtesy."Career OpportunityWe have an opportunity in our Property, Planning & Development Department for a Property & Agreements Coordinator who has related experience in property acquisitions and/or a project infrastructure environment.What You Will DoYou will be working with the Major Projects department to identify all necessary temporary/permanent property requirements and easements, initiate and support the negotiation/expropriation process for the aforementioned property interests in accordance with the approved project schedule and budget, and negotiate/coordinate various complex property agreements.The incumbent will review design submissions associated with the TTC Major Projects and Capital Works Program projects, and liaise with project teams to identify temporary/permanent property requirements to facilitate construction as well as ensure the project requirements are minimized and justified. In addition, Coordinate and support City of Toronto and York Region Real Estate and Legal Departments to facilitate the acquisition of properties and easements, including providing information to support, and testifying as required, at Expropriation Hearings of Necessity. Review City/Regional Council reports prepared by City/Region Real Estate and/or Legal for all the property requisitions for capital projects.Your will be responsible to Initiate and support the negotiation/expropriation process for the property interests in accordance with the approved project schedule and budget. Coordinate/lead as appropriate, negotiations affecting property owners including obtaining Permissions to Enter as required. As well as, Negotiate/coordinate various agreements, which involves liaising with various parties (City of Toronto and York Region Real Estate, City of Toronto, York Region and TTC Legal, TTC Engineering and Construction Departments, consultants, provincial and federal agencies, and affected property owners) for their timely execution.As the Property & Agreements Coordinator, you will obtain all project level sign offs on requisition forms for property acquisition/disposal approval, as well as prepare all necessary TTC Board reports to proceed with the process.What Qualifications Do You Bring?

  • Completion of a post-secondary college diploma or university degree in a related discipline (e.g. planning, urban studies, engineering, or public administration involving a focus on real estate/property matters) or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent.
  • Extensive related experience in a property acquisition and/or project infrastructure environment.
  • Sound knowledge of property, real estate, property negotiations, and leases.
  • Knowledge of the expropriation process, real estate agreements, valuation of property, and business loss analysis.
  • Ability to read and understand reference plans, engineering drawings; general knowledge of common engineering and construction practices.
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently review and comment on project design submissions relating to property requirements.
  • Familiarity with computerized applications related to the work (Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Sound judgement; well-developed interpersonal and oral and written communication skills; proven organizational and problem solving skills; highly developed conflict resolution and negotiating skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously to ensure that project schedules, milestones, and deadlines are met on a timely basis.
  • This position will visit various sites/locations for meetings as required.
